I have a shock collar for Cody. I have only used it when necessary. He had a bad problem of darting out into the street when anyone started out of the back yard. It works!

My vet was completely against them until he finally ran across a stuborn dog and he couldn't train him. He tried it and is now a firm believer. NEVER use it to be mean or punish. Use it only to train him/her not to do something.

That being said my Cody is 15# so he is not a tiny yorkie. I never had to shock him on anything higher than 3. Of course I did it to myself so I knew what it felt like. You start at 1 and then go up if you need to. Sometimes their hair is so thick they can't feel it. It is just a small jolt.
Makes them think....don't do that again.
