I have a rule that my dogs aren't allowed to use their teeth on me. When I was training my puppy that, I'd say no, bop him lightly on the snout, and ignore him for a while. That solved the problem.

This exactly what we did with Maggie and it worked great. I no longer have torn socks or hands.
