ears Dogs ears are not as delicate as the human ear in regards to the ear drum. The dogs ear canal is "L" shaped..you can not stick a Q-Tip straight in and puncture the drum as with a human...use a liguid ear cleanser..squirt some in and massage the base of the ear, then use a Q-tip to clean them out. I am not big on hair pulling. I know most vets want to remove the hair, but I have owned many Yorkies..rarely do I pull out the hair...I find if it causes no problem, leave it alone...same for anal glands. If the dog is prone to ear infection, then you will want to keep the ear dry inside..removing hair is best in those cases. After a bath you can use Flowers of Sulphur powder on a Q-tip and that will dry the ear canal fast and prevent infection...great product for any flop earred breed also. (druggist can order it..very cheap) I hope this helps you. |
