I too think you should wait. You never know if they will be a barker or not. If you can, move to a pet friendly apartment complex and getting him/her sooner
I rent a townhouse and thankfully they are pet-friendly. I did pay a pet deposit but I feel comfortable knowing they are allowed and no one will tell on me
