I don't let Skippy outside unsupervised even though I have some pretty big dogs too. It's just that their still so tiny, and it's not always hawks you need to look out for. It's those to legged animals called humans who've decided stealing them was a good thing to do. Skippy and I use to go out front and play, and now we stay inside the fence in the back yard, because the less people that know I have him the less likely they'll be to try to steal him.
