Don't blame yourself for that. We are all faced with so much information that it is not an easy decision to make. We do our best and so did you. That's the best any of us can do. It could be any one of us in your shoes. I'm so sorry and I pray your doggies will overcome this and be healthy again. Please try to keep us updated about them.
