If you are using those terms and looking for a 2-3 pound Yorkies, that's probably why you are seeing such astronomical prices...which would pale in comparison to what you'd probably be out for vet bills and heatache.

If you ask me, it sounds like your mom is a smart woman.
first off - i agree with some of the other people who have posted here that be careful since you seem to really REALLY want a tiny babyface yorkie ... I have a lil guy who's only 2.5 lbs and its been really hard and a lot of heartache b/c he gets sick really easily. SOME smaller dogs, who are 'tiny' have a tendency to have health problems .. either due to bad breeding or something else who knows why ... iunno just think twice of what you really want and what you can really handle.

do a search on here or just go to the sick/injured forum and read some of the stories people go through b/c of bad breeding from bad breeders .. it may make you be more choosey in a different way than just size, looks, and money for your puppy. so my advice find a GREAT breeder, SEE the place your potential puppy was raised in, ASK the breeder TONS and TONS of questions, and listen to pple here b/c most have been in the same position as you before

gluck my dear in finding your perfect loveable puppy ..
