Welcome to YT, and I commend you for asking around before you take the plunge.

Positives
* Smaller turds
* Less destructive capacity.
* Can take them more places because more people are more tolerant of small dogs.
* They eat less
* They don't drag you on walks
* Affectionate
* They don't shed
* They have all the spirit of a big dog in a small frame

Negatives
* They are delicate, and you have to watch them around kids and other dogs
* Though smaller in size, they are not necessarily smaller in vet bills.
* Grooming is expensive unless you do it yourself.
* You will never, ever want to be away from them

I always considered small dogs to be yappers not worth my time, but I've never had smarter, more affectionate dogs in my life. I will always own Yorkies.
