I give mine a bath when it's cold out I just make sure the bathroom is warm with a heater or turn up the heat. and then I blow dry on the warm setting keeping the dryer moving so they don't get too hot.
There are alot of great shampoo's out there I have cowboy magic for my pups there is a product review area here that lets you know the good and the bad also maybe try the grooming section.
