I do the same exact thing!!

and I agree with the poster above you, it is most likely the little hairs poking them in their eye which leads to excessive watering to the eyes... just do what fourdez does... 100% cotton ball soakedd with hot water, and dry it up with a lil towel or whatever you would like I then comb it out too....with a tiny comb so it doesn't dry up into one, like to keep them apart.
