I am so sorry for your loss. I am going to through a very similiar situation. I lost my little girl not quite 2 weeks ago we had had her for a year and a day when she died she was only 14 months old. She got sick Wednesday and died Thursday. I am really want to get another one and I have found one she is only 6 weeks old right now and also has a open fontella and it is small too. I am having the same feelings you are that what if something fatal happens to her and what if I don't have the love for her that I had for Summer. I think that the best thing to do is to get a new puppy just like you did. My fiance and mom didn't think it was a good idea, but I talked them into it. Just like someone else said I believe that there will always be hole in my heart for Summer, but I will love the next one just as much. They are all soo different and thats makes them special.
