Seriously though, if we're going to apply our society's gender biases to yorkies, the poor males might as well just give up now. As jlyn pointed out, if they are going to be kept standard to their breed, their hair will be long and they will have a top knot. Male or female. If people have a problem with that and feel the need to use their dog to "man up", they should get a pit bull. IMO, a real man shouldn't feel threatened by a small dog's accessory. |
Thank you!!!!!!
You have mirrored by sentiments exactly. A Yorkie is a Yorkie. Look at the standard, and don"t worry about others ideas. It MY dog and I'll do what I want with the hair, and if somebody can"t "get it" well........
After 40 years of Yorkies in our marriage, I am thankful to have a husband whose manhood is not based on how his dog is dressed(or not dressed).
On the other side of the coin is the health and cleanliness issue. Hair in the eyes can cause some icky problems, and I also would miss looking into those loving, playful little eyes that my furbabies flash so well.
