I thought that I would go ahead and report myself as a bad breeder before it ends up on here.

I took a deposit for a small yorkie puppy some time ago. Puppy did not do well with some of her shots and had to stay to make sure that all was well.

I held unto the $200.00 deposit for quite some time before I cashed it- just this month.

Well Saturday the client came to get the puppy met her at the airport. I have everything in place-.

She flew in on a airline that does not allow pets- only service dogs. The paperwork that she provided to the airline did not qualify for her to take this dog on the plane as her therapy dog. Mind you she flew in from the east coast with no need of a therapy dog.

She could not take the dog home with her. I offered to send the dog to her this week by delta. I could send the puppy COD for the flight and we could use the same health certificate.

I am a bad breeder cause I told her that she would have to pay for the puppy in full before I could send the puppy. She was not willing to pay for the puppy - wanted me to just send the kid to her.

I am a bad breeder because I did not give her her deposit back on the spot.
I am a bad breeder because I told her that I was going to deduct my costs for this mess from her deposit. I am a bad breeder because I told her that I would not refund any money until I place the puppy in a new home.

I am a bad breeder - I should be a professional and understand that this happens and I should just eat the costs.

Why should she have to pay for my gas to and from the airport- the parking fee- two trips to the vet to get the health certificate because she did not give me all the information- the health certificate- the vet check- the worming exam- the deworming (was negative )

I am a bad breeder I am eating the cost of the Bordatella, 16 week shots, Revolution and Rabies. This kid was good to go would require nothing other then a check up for a year. Those things do not bother me they are for the benefit of the puppy.

You wonder why the costs of puppies are so high. Look at what breeders are put through. How easy it is to call some one a bad breeder and not a professional.

I could have met this gal at the airport and left her. She would have been stuck there with my puppy and no way to get her home. I told her on Friday that I did not think this airline allowed pets on board. She had it under control. I stayed with her while she tried to check in and straighten out the mess. She still had not paid me for the puppy even though it was in her carry on bag. I could have asked her for my money and left her before she had to check in at the airline. I cared too much for my puppy and also did not want to do that to her. I just had that feeling that something was not right.

What upsets me also is that she was going to pay me by a check. I am sorry- I will take a deposit on a kid that is going to leave some time later. This allows time for a check to clear the bank -can take up to 10 working days.

I do not take checks when you pick a baby up- it is a certified check, money order- paypal or cash.

I guess - I was not trustyworthy enough in her eyes to send the puppy to her. She was not going to pay for the puppy if it could not go home with her. How many of you still take a check or will send someone a puppy that is not paid for. I got burned that way in 2005 and it created a mess in my life.

Well that is all that I wanted to say- I know that this is going to get slammed on here and thought this way you can have both sides of the story. Mine and the other party. Boy am I glad that I am getting out of this mess- what used to be such fun is no longer any fun.

I got back into this for a release and to make myself feel better on days that my health was getting me down. It has placed me several feet closer to the grave. I have met some wonderful people because of the Yorkies. I have also been blessed with some that have been difficult.
