We have wire crates and fabric crates. The wire ones are easy to fold down although I would NOT want to do it every day or anything. We have them as permanent furniture in the living room
But we have taken Loki's for a 5 day vacation no problem. We keep a fabric one in the back of the car in case we need it while we are visiting my parents or whatever. That's the one I'd choose if you will be taking it up and down. Also, it depends on what your dogs like. They can see out of the wire ones better than the fabric ones.
