I have a one year old female yorkie, Summer, and I just adopted another this past Sunday. She is 3 years and is 4 lbs. She is very skittish and very shy. I don't think she received the attention she deserved from the pervious owner and/or has spent way to many hours in a crate.

She has NEVER been walked on a leash and when I put one on her, she just stands still or walks in tiny circles. Also, she has NEVER been up or down stairs. She twirls around in circles until I ask her to sit and then I pick her up and carry her up or down the stairs. Can anyone help with ideas on how to get the walking on a leash thing started. She has her harness on so do I just gently pull her along? Or offer her treats to get her to walk next to me?

As for the stairs, I am hoping that she will watch Summer and want to follow. Is there anyone else that has been through this? I would appreciate your input. Thank you.
