What do you mean by "mom still wants to nurse them"? Are you sure she doesn't just want to check on them and lick them, etc.? After I have totally weaned my pups (usually by 5 weeks), I put a onesie (that human babies wear) on mom and let her tend to the pups throughout the day, but the pups do not nurse. She just cleans them and such.

Just a thought. Eight weeks seems a little old to still be nursing, even if it's just once a day.
