Someone suggested putting a piece of carpet for her to use. I don't think it's a good idea for reasons above. Soon enough, all carpets in your house will become fair game. Heck, some dogs who are pee pad trained confuse carpet and rugs for pee pads sometimes because they have a somewhat similar feel on their paws.

Do you feed her on schedule? That may help you predict when she needs to go and take her outside after her meals. If she is so reluctant to go outside that she'll hold it for a while, then perhaps a good idea would be to keep her outside for a few hours on your day off. There's just so long that she'll be able to hold it as a puppy before she absolutely has to go. When she finally does, be ready with lots of praise and perhaps even treats (though, I personally prefer not to give treats for pottying, but your case maybe different).

Another thing you may want to try if you have a fenced yard is putting her out there in an xpen with some toys to keep her company. Eventually, she'll have to potty out there. Hopefully you can be there to praise her, but if not, she'll at least start to associate outside with potty. Remember, with these little ones, it's baby steps. Yorkies are definitely a challenge to potty train.

Good luck with your baby! She'll learn, hang in there!

Thank you for the words of wisdom! I agree 100% with the association thing. I have started putting her outside alot of the day. I do have a fenced yard so she is fine by herself. I do go out and check on her. She does go outside but she is just not figuring out the inside vs outside. She has started pooping on the porch which is not a good thing. I am hoping she will eventually follow Cody's lead about the doggie door I did tape it open yesterday and she came in twice by herselft WOOHOO!

Ok so here is the question now. I am babysitting now during the day and I don't have the time that I did have to keep a constant eye on her. She actually pooped in the living room today Anyway should I keep her outside during the day and crate her at night? Should I crate her during the day and take her out every few hours. She has started holding it at night in her crate since I made it really small. So I don't get up with her at night at all now. She goes to bed about 8 or 9 and is let out at about 7. So she can hold it a LOOOOOOONG time.

This is her schedule(if you want to call it that) now. Get her up and take her out - sometimes I go with her sometimes I don't - just depends on what is happening with my skin kids in the house. After she is out about 30minutes I let her in and lock her in her area in the kitchen so she can eat. She usually whines at this time and doesn't eat. After about 20 minutes I let her outside again for about another 30 minutes. At this time I let her back in and put her diaper on her. This is when she runs and plays and I loose track of her and she nibbles on her food at this time. (I guess I need to pick it up right? ) So she pooped cause I got busy and didn't see her. I found it and picked it up and took it and her outside and placed the poop on the grass and let her see it. She ran off. I need to be more consistant don't I?

Seeing what I have typed here I am thinking I need to put food down for her in the morning when I put her in the kitchen (our outside when I put her out) and down again for dinner time. But what if she doesn't eat during the time frame I put it down for her? Do I just condition her to eat when it is down? This feeding is new to me as Cody free feeds.
