Sounds exactly like seperation anxiety. Yorkies DO NOT like to be left alone. They are 100% people contact babies. She is associating her crate with being left alone. If you put her in the crate, then peek in the window, you will see that the only thing she wants is to be with you. Puppy proof a room that you do not use very often and allow her to be in that room, if you have to leave.

Another training method is to put her in the confined space, (not the crate, at this time) and tell her you will be back. Only go outside for a minute or two. Come back in, show her how happy you are to see her, and give her a treat for being such a nice girl. Do this several times a day. After a while she will know that you will be coming back and that she will get a treat for being such a nice girl.
