The quantity for feeding that our vet recommends for our little "fatty" 4.5 lb. Toto is no more than 1/4 cup total in one day. Since she is at least 1.5 lb. overweight for her tiny bone structure she has her on a diet. We do leave a little dry Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 available to her at all times with lots of water but her morning and evening meals, we try to adhere to the 1/4 cup total recommendation. Also, she has begun to refuse anything with meat in it and only picks out veggies! Dr. Lucy says this is fine so right now we are giving her fresh veggies. We know that the weight problem is caused by lack of exercise but the weather is soooo cold here that there's seldom a day that's fit for walks.
