Good point, but in my case, now that I think about it...

TJ poops right after eating (I can usually force him to poop and then get to his poop before they do). However, he has NEVER pooped outside - EVER (he is just over 2 years old)

Roxy is a different story. Sometimes she will poop first thing in the morning, sometimes right after eating, but for the most part - she will poop 1-2 hours after eating in the AM. If Roxy has to poop and we are outside, she certainly will.

I guess I might have to try both ways and see what is best for us!
