We were in Haines once and watched a showdown between a raven and a bald eagle. The eagle was just sitting on a tree branch that the raven must have thought was his. I believe it. They are strange birds. Most other birds have the sense to fly south for the winter, but ravens gather here in the winter. We hardly ever see them in the summertime, but in the winter, when we're below zero, they are thick.
