Why do some of you guys get intimidated by the lingo? It just encourages them!
Even though I know the meaning of their terms (having grown up in coffee shops), I really dislike the aura of elitism Starbucks creates by using neologisms instead of ordinary words. Afterall, it's just a mundane coffee shop. What is wrong with the words small, medium, and large? Language is supposed to help one communicate efficiently with others, not hinder the process. Sometimes I order in plain English just because.
