Angry Breeder/Vet problems...

I don't know if you all would recall my dilemna a while back about whether to get Miss Kimber spayed in my town or to get it done where the breeders BROKER recommended.

I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario... the BROKER - who arranges the purchase of the dog and picks up the dog - would ONLY recommend her vet - which is 8 hours away from here!

I talked to several people, and got in touch with a well recommended vet. Kimber went for her bloodwork on Thursday - b/c she WAS to get spayed this Friday coming up.

IN THUNDER BAY

The vet called me on Saturday and said her enzyme levels were three times higher than they were supposed to be, and recommended more testing. I thought - why not, I dont want her to be put under and perhaps be not well and have trouble. So she went in this morning for more testing - I told my Dad what was going on - and he told his friend who has a yorkie through the same person... his friend CALLED this lady in town and told her what was going on. He told me to call her - and I said I would once the test results were back. So she calls me flipping out, telling me to get my dog out of that vet hospital and that SHE would take the dog out of town to get spayed. She snapped on me!

So I called the vet and Kimber was done her testing, enzymes levels were sky high and bile acid tests were off the charts... so I picked her up - and go t her back to work with me right now. So then the breeder calls me from Winnipeg - very nice, and concerned. I explained to her what was going on, she was very worried about Kimber - and not so much worried about my inability to pick a qualified vet. I'm not faxing Kimbers test results (when I get a printed copy) to the Vet the breeder/broken recommend, their vet is going to look at the test results and figure out which step to take next.

IMO I should not ignore these results. The vet here does not have the equipment to test of a liver shunt - he would have no profit from me going out of town to get her tested for one, he is being cautious - in my opinion.

My dad called me and I got very upset. He agreed the lady should not have flipped out on me, she's not even the breeder! This is the same lady that when I picked up Miss Kimber at 12 weeks - and her one ear was flopped, she had it taped and offered to sell me another dog.

I don't really know what to do, I guess I am just frustrated, confused and upset with all of it. I told the breeder if the broker woul dhave recommended a vet in town I would gladly have went to that one, but she wouldn't. The breeder said she has sold several dogs here that go to vets here. Obviously I need a vet within my city limits in case of emergency.

I'm calling this lady in my town a broker - as I really dont know what she would be considered. Kimber was gift from my dad through the guy that took it upon himself to call the lady in town - and he arranged it all.

I don't like being yelled at...
