I discovered early on some standard "lines" in ads that are scams:

1) Usually cost is less than $500 or "free, but $350, etc., for shipping".
2) Puppy is "socialized" and gets along with children.

ALWAYS the seller is "on a christian mission" (it sickens me that they entrust people through the use of Christ in their deceptive con) or "out of the country" on business. Anytime they are not "at home", I know it's a scam because they must ship to you and you never see their homes or have a way of ever knowing where they live after they've taken your money, so you're out of luck when you try to get your money back.

Also, I wouldn't trust anyone who insists on payment via money order alone. If you are willing to trust them to ship the dog, they should be willing to trust your personal check.
