Hope things are going ok with Tink. Let's see - you are probably in the exam room right now with her...
About the ears - I tried doing Tinka's too when she was younger. I had to re-tape the ears at least 5 times a day.
I did it for a long time and kept them shaved - did everything you're supposed to do, but it didn't work for her... oh well.
Anyhow, just wanted to say that having to reapply the tape so many times a day is pretty normal. Don't give up!
Although you might want to give her a little break after her surgery...
