Well, I know people don't want to hear this BUT:
when I find out there are bone fragments in Orijen and there might have been a latex glove in a can of Canidae and there was hard plastic in their snap biscuits and Merrick has had three recalls within a few years over metal in the food and salmonella and nutro is causing vomiting and bloody diarrhea and possibly death I start to lose faith in more "holistic" or "natural" foods.

Because of the apparent lack of quality control in these smaller companies (because it costs money), I hesitate to recommend any of them. And even the natural brands have ingredient problems. The claim is that they don't use things like ethoxyquin but they buy their meat from somewhere and the farm could've used it. It is almost impossible to tell with some companies.

So, I have started leaning toward the newer products coming out from large companies. They aren't without problems...even serious ones (and the ingredients may come from China) but the quality control MAY (not a guarantee) be better. One of these is Science Diet Nature's Best. It isn't a great food but it is fair. If you only want to use holistic food I might consider California Natural (although Karma isn't 100% problem free either). I would also consider Natural Balance but I think there is some question about where it is made.

During the recall the "garbage foods" were mostly the problem but now it seems that as more people use holistic food there are more complaints about it.

So the food I've use is the one that I felt most comfortable with on that particular day.
