My first time 1 Attachment(s) I had my first go at making Piper a new outfit. I am a terrible seamstress but decided that I would try. I had a brand new newborn onesie so I cut the snap part off and hemmed it for the shirt. I had no idea what I was doing on the skirt but my only complaint with it is that my denim was too heavy so it gathers funky. It's not the picture I had in my head but I don't hate it. All in all I'm happy with it and I even made her a bow clip to match for her hair. All of you expert seamstresses...could you give me pointers on what I could have done differently on the skirt, PLEASE!!! Attachment 395661 |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a picture of what the skirt looks like on her. See how it gathers funky? I'm sure it's because the denim is too heavy. Don't look at her hair, mommy was trying clothes on her and she was a mess!! ;) Attachment 395667 |
that is darling, she looks so cute in it I love how you have the lace under the skirt, it really makes the skirt. I have never made a skirt, what does it look like in the front. I have seen jean skirts for sale and they all have wider waist bands, perhaps a wider waist band would help, but I really don't think it looks that bad. Did you sew the top to the skirt, or is it two pieces |
even with messy hair, Piper is a doll, what a cute little girl you have |
Uh Oh . . am I on the verge of loosing a Great customer , LOL :( That is really good Tammy, and that little stinker Piper and the head tilt is just Darling !! I didn't have much luck my first attempt and a onsie conversion either. It was a disaster. I still want to try it again some day but for now I'll stick to the custom orders. Did you add the elastic to the skirt or did that come with it? Can you show a pic of the underside so I can maybe get a better idea of how it was done? That way I can give you some pointers . . on basic sewing that might help. |

You'll get it . . that material is not easy to work with. You need to have your machine set just perfect. The tension and the length of the stitched need to be just right. Loosen your tension and lengthen your stitches. Plus make sure you are not pulling on the fabric , let the machine do the work for you. :) There is a thread on the onsie conversion here somewhere... might help to take a look. |
She looks adorable. Good job |
So have you had any time to work on your sewing ? |
Haha, I've had time but no desire to sew!! ;) |
Oh my.. You did great for a first time and working with no pattern... She looks adorable!! |
What a cute idea. I can't sew to save my life. She looks absolutely adorable. |
