| Tutus Hi, All. It's been awhile since I've been online -- life has been hectic. I have a question for you: I'd like to add tutus to my line of clothing, but am not happy with the way they are coming out. I am using 1" no -roll elastic and am using the knot method to attach my tulle but I don't know what to do to hide the ugly elastic on the underside. I sew 1" velcro to each end so you can attach it under the dog's belly but there is still that small bit of elastic showing because I don't want to put tulle under the dog (messes, etc) For those of you that do put your pups in tutus, how do they look on the underside? I think I may be making this harder on myself than it needs to be. Any comments will be much appreciated. Thank you, Leslie |

I forgot to add my pictures. This tutu I made for Ruby ad a practice and actually sewed the elastic shut -- that was dumb. it's too difficult to try and slip it over her rear and get her legs in it. | |

| I do it the old fashioned way, I layer several layers of tulle, dial for a loose stitch on the machine, sew the length, pull one thread until it gathers to the length I want. Tie a knot so it stays that length. The dress/harness part, I leave the bottom open & slide the tutu in between the outer fabric & lining and stitch across. Its a big pain in the rear working with the tulle, but they just look so stinking cute in them! :-)

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | You could always find a way to add some fabric to cover the elastic that is showing. Maybe make some sort of sleeve/tube to thread the elastic through, than sew it together and tuck the seem inside the tube so it doesn't show. When I made mine I used the pre knotted elastic bands that you can buy by the bolt in the ribbon section at Joann's. Its not as inexpensive as the regular elastic but it turns out very pretty. They come in a verity of colors. Ya just poke the tulle through the holes and tie them the same way you did the other. Here is one of the ones I did.
