| Help! Looking in NYC Hi, I had to put down my baby Felix due to a collapsing trachea. Unfortunately medications had stopped working and well we are all heartbroken. It was probably the most difficult thing I ever had to due, but he was suffering and it was the right thing to do. We did not know about puppy mills and such when we got him. He loved life for 3 years.. Now I have a distraught wife and another yorkie named Oscar (bought from the same store prior, thankfully healthy) who are in need of a new friend. So now that I know better, I am looking for a reputable breeder who has a pup available. Im in new york city (have car will drive) and prepared to spend around $1000 or so. Please, I do not want a shipped dog. I appreciate you reading this.. Steve |

| Well I literally spent HOURS on the phone yesterday and have come to the conclusion that within the 5 boroughs you can NOT get a dog from a trust worthy source and when I thought I had a source, after enough digging I found dirt on them. Honest people are starting to get hard to come by. I knew we wanted to get a dog and get it today but I was determined to do it the right way. I called every number in the tri-state area from the ytca.org links and other yorkshire terrier clubs.. These people were nice but didnt have anything for me except more phone numbers... I managed to get in touch with Susan from Top Knotch Yorkies when they called me back on my message a few hours later and made the quest down to south Jersey. We brought home a 5 month old named Murdock. It was an extremely satisfying experience, driving a few hours down in the evening. I had confused the directions and gotten a bit lost. Susan had left the phone in the other room so didnt hear it, so I couldnt get directions. My wife was nervous and I myself on a mission. Blackberry combined with will to make this happen no matter what I managed to find TKY. Brought my wife and daughter in and I was just amazed as my wife was completely overwhelmed and my little girl was going crazy because of all the puppies. 2 hours later, around midnight, we started making our way home and I have this hard to explain feeling as Im driving back to NYC with my wife, daughter and new yorkie all sleeping in the back of the car.. Anyways it was just a whole experience going to get this dog and it was all amazing. |

| Steve, Welcome to YT. I am sorry about Felix. I know what it is like, I to am going to be finding my baby girl a new playmate since I recently lost one of my babies and she is very lonely. Good luck with your search. You are definitely right about buying from a reputable breeder, well worth the effort and the money. Again, welcome to YT.

| I know this had to be very difficult for you and your family. My heart goes out to you. Please be careful when looking for your new baby, there are a lot of unreputable breeders around , not just in pet stores and puppy mills. Make sure you ask lots and lots of questions regarding health history of the parents, the lines your puppy comes from, vet check, health guarantees, etc. Also, it is much better if your puppy is at least 12 weeks old before it leaves it's mother. Good luck in your search. Hope it brings you much success and happiness back into your life.
