I had two Yorkies that i breed and they produced 3 black/gold and 1 like you described. I sold the 3 black and gold but kept the other. She is beautiful....her hair is long blondish color and a tan face. Also when i was selling the others she was the one that everyone wanted because she is different. But i wanted to keep her. Anyone that knows or is looking for a yorkie here knows the accepted coloring of a yorkie. But just because one comes out different doesn't mean they aren't a yorkie or are inbreed. What about the ones that have flaws??? are they inbreed as well??? More $$ for the brown??? I was offered a little more for mine. Just because she was different.

Then why ask about how much "in demand" that color was? Why not just take an offer and sell him. I feel like you contradicted yourself in the post. Yorkie Rose was being honest. We don't all sugar coat things. It is what it is. Good luck on selling you puppy.

I dont think i would try to make a quick buck on your puppy just because he is different. I think if you do really care about him and not want him bred then you neuter him yourself before selling the puppy so that does not happen. I dont doubt you love your puppies but you do seem like you are contradicting yourself a lil bit. Sorry thats just how im seeing it but I could be wrong. Jmo sue

thanks for the reply....i have gotten SEVERAL offers since i posted this message. the offers that i have received so far is such a huge range but i have not sold him yet...my #1 priority is a good home and being able to know exactly where he goes and if he's going to be loved as a pet not a bredding machine....im still undecided if ill sell him or not, i really dont have the room for another (of coarse i could find the room for something that cute). i have been offered alot more for Gizmo but like i said i didnt accept any offers and im just keeping my options open. as for being different, i personally think we all are in some way and dogs are the same in that aspect.....i dont ever exspect to see a chocolate yorkie at the Westminster dog show but your right....they are definatley beautifull and they can make a great pet....im just thankfull he shouldnt have any health defects thank you for your message

The only way to KNOW that is to neuter him. AND since he can't be shown (and showing is for breeding stock) which in turn means he is not in any way shape or form breed standard, you should have him neutered. ANY RESPONSIBLE BREEDER WOULD. IMO--you sound like you want to sell him unaltered--like you would make more money if you did. AND the typical BYB wouldn't because you can sell him for more probably if you don't. If you REALLY care about him and his welfare like you say you do, just do the right thing. (little hint: right thing=neuter him BEFORE sale) Even if you keep him, you don't want him breeding to your female, which he will do if unaltered. | |

when i posted the note my intension was to find out if someone could be interested in him... i had never heard of a chocolate yorkie and a breeder said she never heard of one either so i did research.....if you do a general search on "chocolate yorkies" you will find tons of info on some kind of candy bar (never heard of that either) but you will find a very limited amount of info on chocolate yorkies (the dog)....if i would have posted my message as "chocolate yorkie????" or "need info on chocolate yorkies" i guarentee i would not have gotten the response i have gotten. yes he is for sale (to the right person) but i also needed more info and thankfully the wonderfull people at this site that have responded and sent personal messages to me have been so helpfull that i cant even explain....the people here have gave me more info than the whole web has. as for my Question "is there a demand?" i was just being honest....if you would have talked to the people that i did you would have heard two different things, some would same they would make a great pet for someone for free and the other side...well lets just say i had someone offer me $2000 for him so they could breed him (he got turned down real fast by the way).... i asked the question and like i said the people here on this web site were able to help me.... yes there is a demand but ive leared that i have to be carefull who to sell him to. i dont think a chocolate yorkie should be bread to produce other chocolate yorkies (my personal opion only), i do think they are different but not rare and that they shouldnt be advertised that way and there are people out there that advertise them as rare. but i will say that i personally would pay more for a chocolate....im not sure about others out there but mine has a better coat than the rest of my yorkies and his color is absolutely beautiful. i have been offered the same amount as the others i sold and a considerable amount more but like i said before....he is not sold yet... ive learned there is a demand and out of the dozen or so offers i have gotten three so far seem legit and seem like they want him as a pet not a breeding machine i think the whole problem is that there is not enough unbias info out there for people to learn about this "different"kind of yorkie. wether you think its good or bad i hope this message i posted helps others that were in my situation....i said it before....this site was the only place out there that i got good info and i really want to thank everyone out there for your help..... my post stirred up all kinds of feelings from many different people...i posted it that way on purpose and im glad i did....some were not too happy with me and some thanked me but all in all it got info out there and i know i learned alot and im sure it will/has helped someone else thank you all

he is getting ready to go to the vet in two weeks and getting him fixed is my first question. i leave my puppies health up to my vet...he brought them into this world and i trust him completely. i will take his advice and more than likely (99%) Gizmo will be nuetered before he is sold. i KNOW he will never be a breed standard and i do NOT consider him that, i respect professional breeders and their opions but i respect the pet lovers as well...some one that will love him as a pet not a money maker. Im not a back yard breeder and this is more that likely my last litter but i ran into something speacial, not rare but speacial to me....Gizmo has rasied alot of Controversy and i have become close to him because of that and it has brought me to fight for the "little guy" but i just want to make sure my fight ends the best for me and for him and for the breed. ill say it again...your comments and opinions are welcome...we are learning from each others knowledge and opinions and it will help all of us make an educated opinion on this matter keep them coming thanks

I'm not putting you down for anything you've done but he should be neutered. I could put a wonderful front on like I'm not going to breed also. People lie to get what they want. I commend you on being smart enough not to sell to the dummies that inquire about him. Just please neuter him. He will ake a wonderful pet. AND life long companion. =)

ALSO---the best place to learn about the oddities that happen in the breeding aspect are boards. Many people post and resond that have been doing this for years. THOSE are the people that know what's up. =)

Oh my...well I was reading thru past posts on here and found one about the guy in Texas, so I checked out his sight and was appallled(sp). He had a yorkie on there for 10,000. Get real and the place looked like a sweatshop of puppies to me!
