Wanted - male yorkie pup I am looking for a male yorkie puppy. I am willing to travel up to 4 hours to pick the puppy up (I live in Camden, SC) and not looking to spend more than $1000. Thanks!:animal36 |
Go to www.ytca.org breeder referral page and look up breeders listed in your area. Then call then, interview them. Look in our YT library for the article on how to find a reputable breeder. Please remember the purchase price of a Yorkie is the least amount of money you will pay over their lifetime. You will need to be prepared for medical emergencies, training, grooming, etc. There is a saying "buy your breeder first", then your pup. A good way of meeting breeders is to attend nearby dog shows. You can go to www.akc.org, to find a listing of shows that will be held in your area. Good luck with your search. |
I've checked out YTCA referrals and so far have had no luck, either gotten no response or none have puppies available which is why I thought I'd post here:) I will check out the dog shows though, that's a great idea I hadn't thought of that! Also, I just put a price on here as I do not want to waste anyone's time. I know dogs cost money over their lifetime. Trust me, I'm on my second great dane and I have two labrador retrievers, one who has just had her second litter with 13 puppies that I am currently bottle feeding;) However, I have seen many breeders charging upwards of $1200 dollars and pimping the dogs as "teacups" & tinies. I am not interested in breeders like that who jack up their prices to make a quick buck. Thanks for the advice! |
AKC Male Yorkie in Richmond Virginia I am trying to re-home a Yorkie. My sister bought him for her children a little over a year ago. My mother lives with them and has recently started home dialysis. She was told that the dog could not be around her. I am currently caring for him. He is 11 pounds and 18 months old. He is AKC registered and has a microchip. She paid $800 for him, and would take half that to re-home him. |

2 labs, a great dane, and a litter of puppies that you're bottle feeding? Aren't your hands a little tied up right now? I'm exhausted just thinking about it! Sorry to say, but I'm not sure that a reputable breeder who cares where their puppies are going to will sell to you in your current situation. Not saying you're a bad person, or can't care for a pup, just saying your situation sounds a little busy and hectic for a little yorkie babe. |

Very upsetting to see the posters on this thread ready and willing to sell a puppy in the hands of the OP in that situation. And that the OP found someone willing to sell. And of course, no reputable breeder ever would sell to this type of situation. Why are these people breeding? Answer is so obvious it hurts! |

Seems so me that is quite a handful and many many reputable breeders won't sell to this type of situation being homes with 3 big dogs and obviously the owner doesn't hesitate to breed. A few weeks ago I groomed a yorkie in my grooming business with a very sore back because the family very large young dog got exhuberant and paw came down on her back. Lucky the YOrkie is still alive, many are killed or permanently injured. |

Also, she is now fixed as are my other two dogs so there will be no more future litters. Second of all, my other three dogs are all outside dogs and would be in their own fenced in area while I am outside with my yorkie who would be of course kept inside except for playtimes and potty breaks. Maybe you should ask more questions if you are concerned instead of jumpinig down someones throat. |
