Wanted: Female/Male Yorkie in the Dayton (surrounding state) Ohio area
 
I'm ready to open my home back up to a Yorkie. I want her strictly as a pet. I'm not interested in breeding or showing her. I'm open to puppies 13 weeks+ and adult Yorkies as well.

I'd really like a sweet doggie to keep me company. I recently had the pleasure of keeping Molly (see avatar) for 2.5 weeks while I found her rightful owners. I'm now ready to own one of my own!

If you have one available, please let me know!

You have some wonderful breeders in your area, and close enough for you to go visit their home. Check out the YTCA.org breeder referral list. And don't hesitate to ask for input.

It's against YT rules to advertise pups prior to 10 weeks of age.

Thank you! I've received quite alot of PMs from people who have pups for sale in my area and out of state. I'm still researching.

On the positive side, I've been talking with a rescue facility outside of my area of town. I am going to go visit sometime this week to see if we're a match.:D

If you look on petfinder you will find quite a few rescued yorkies in your area that need their forever home, some are babies and some are older but all of them are in need of a loving home.

Please be extremely cautious with people who PM you with puppies for sale. Generally a red flag... because anybody can join YT and lurk for people who are currently looking for a puppy and send them a private message. :thumbdown

PMs are very normal here, people wanting to sell pups.

Glad you're keeping all your options open. But, try to obtain a pup from as near to home as possible. Read everything there is as to what makes a reputable breeder. What kind of breeding program, testing, etc do they do.

Good Luck with your search. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. The dog world is very small as to who is who in the zoo.

Good luck in your search. Please be careful who you purchase from. As has been said on this forum a million times before, you buy your breeder first and your puppy second. Buy from someone you are confident will be there for you for the next 15-20 years.

Absolutely! it's a learning experience. I still check out the websites given. Only a couple actually seemed pretty good quality. But, again anyone can make a website.

Thank you! Yes, if it doesn't 'click' between Totto and I will continue on with my search. I'd like to keep my options for a baby w/in my Tristate area. But, fingers are still crossed on petfinder!

Has some gorgeous, healthy dogs.

Cher Hildebrand/Goldenray - Dayton, OH has very healthy, beautiful dogs.

I spoke with her last week sometime. She is awesome and very knowledgeable. I was very comfortable talking to her. Unfortunately, she won't be having any babies avail to leave her until the spring :confused: But, she's def. at the top of my list.

That is a bit of the problem with YTCA breeders. They breed minimally and their primary purpose is not to sell puppies. They breed for themselves first, for that next Champion to add to their breeding program. So, you have to put yourself on their waiting list. But, well worth the wait. But, even if you don't buy a puppy from them, they want you to be thoroughly educated so that you can make the best possible decision.

Try Deb Lacy too.

How far away are you from Kokomo? Two great breeders there

I see that as an asset instead of a problem. You know that each breeding was done carefully thus ensuring the best of the best. At least when compared to people who breed their dogs all willy nilly not caring what kind of dogs they produce. :thumbdown:

A bit of a problem for those that want a puppy now. Our's is a I want it now society.

I've been lucky with my puppy families. They've done their homework and start their search with YTCA breeders and are willing to wait. I had one family wait for 2 years. Wanting a puppy from one of my girls that hadn't finished her Championship yet. She was 9 months when they saw her in the ring.

One of them doesn't for sure. But I agree, all respectable. Even if they can't help you now they may refer you to someone locally that does.

Yep. She's a sweety. I didn't give her because I knew she didn't have anything now either. She had nice yorkies.

Can you imagine the soul satisfaction of loving a dog for the rest of its life that was sooo deprived? I know that Bear loves us just a wee bit more because of the gratitude he feels. I have a wee bit softer spot in my heart for him as well because of the bond of lost and found. I love my yorkie babies but from birth they have been loved, pampered and coddled. They've never had a day of suffering or a day where they did not feel total love. Baxter was always appreciated but was in a home situation that was not good for a dog and the rehome was necessary and so he might have been overly confined but never truly suffered. Bear was a shelter rescue and is therefore my special baby, inasmuch as we have a mutual understanding of grace given and received.

So of course my vote is go Totto!

A puppy purchase shouldn't be rushed into anyway. But you're right about our society wanting instant gratification.

I know it shouldn't. But, it is unfortunate that most put more thought into buying a car than a living, breathing, precious life. I get so many calls from people wanting a pup, thinking they're going to be able to take a pup home immediately. Even if I have one available, people think just because they want one I'm going to sell them one. Some have become irrate when I've told them no.

I have four beautiful yorkies! Two are babies from my Maggie May, but with that said, if and when I ever get another I WILL ADOPT AND RESCUE! I agree with the other posts about how grateful I know Totto will be. Besides ...WOW! is he a cutie! Please keep us posted after you meet him!!!:animal-pa

Deb does have some available right now......I sent you a message last week......i have been to her home and it is very clean, and she takes very good care of her Yorkies
