Donating YT 500 Club Member | Anyone near Cherokee County South Carolina? I'm so embarrassed heartbroken and sick to my stomach. The shelter in Cherokee County called me yesterday saying they have Guinness. I was absolutely dumbfounded. He was supposed to be with my best friend. She has had some trouble with him. He's been urinating on the beds even though he has full access via a doggie door to the backyard. He bit her little girl unprovoked and she was really upset with him. I can totally understand that. He's played rough with my boys but never bit them in anger or anything like that! Not aggressively and it scared me. She mentioned she would call her vet office and see if they had anyone interested in him and I said let me know what they say. I thought she'd work with me to rehome him and I'd feel okay with that as long as I was involved. I told her and her dad to let me know if they needed to bring him back to me, early on! Well, he was brought in yesterday, scanned and the microchip came back me. He's in a kill shelter but they are involved with rescues and foster homes and such and are sure he'd find a good home. I called my friend asking what happened, she didn't know but was going to call around and said she'd go get him. I gave her name and phone number to the place. They called back saying it was HER that dropped him off, gave me her address and described her. I'm mortified! I asked her about it and she said it wasn't her. I'd believe her but she got defensive and hung up on me. So, now I'm crying, I really was trying to find a better home for him and it didn't work but I never would have wanted him in a shelter. I know that I'm up for being scorned here and ridiculed but I'm posting anyways because I want him helped. I want to know if there is a rescue close by who can go get him. I just have to leave your name and number. or if you have a home to give him I'd be forever happy! He's neutered, almost three and good with other dogs. Maybe not small children as he's bitten one we know of and he will chase cats. He was chasing Nub so much it was taking lives off him which is one big reason we couldn't keep him anymore. Please help me!! now I'll take my beating

| OMGosh, I can't imagine how you must be feeling! Thank goodness this place called you so at least you can keep track of what's going on. And thank goodness they're rescue friendly and willing to help. I'm sorry I don't have any info to help you, but I'll keep Guinness in my thoughts and prayers.

| I don't believe you should be beaten up, it sounds like you placed a dog with a friend thinking it would have a loving home(maybe he was provoked by her child) who's to say she was dishonest about taking the dog to the shelter sometimes children hurt them and biting is their only defense

| Man that is some friend. I can understand her wanting to rehome him, but to take him to a shelter is wrong in soooo many ways. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It sounds like your friend was frustrated, and lied for convenience. I wonder what her story would have been if the shelter didn't call you? I would get the dog out of the shelter immediately. I'm not bashing you, but you are responsible for his life, and you need to ensure he won't be PTS before a new home is found. Kill Shelters are not temporary holding grounds, please pick him up today, and I'm sure we will do everything possible to find him a good home. I just noticed you are not in the same state, how long will the shelter hold him, and can't she temporarily hold him?

Deenie~as long as you have sent your info to LJ she will do whatever is needed to get the word out. I'm hoping that there is help for him in SC. This is not the first time this has happened on YT. You just never know who you are rehoming to I'm so sorry. The shelters in SC are horrible.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | GOOD NEWS hi dena, i just got a friend/rescuer/master trainer to take guiness and place him with the perfect home, he will get out in the morning. My friend is a sweetheart and I really do think she was overly frustrated and afraid to tell me because she knows how upset I'd get and how I'd worry. This has been a horrible ordeal for our friendship as well. She was told by the vet that it was a shelter tied to a rescue and they worked very hard to find a home for these animals. I wish she'd been up front with me. I'm not sure what will happen to our friendship. But that's something we'll work on ourselves outside of this situation. Guinness is a very stubborn dog. I've told the rescue several times that he's been aggressive because I know she wouldn't lie about that. I don't want him to be put with a family he could hurt but I know he has the potential to be a very good family member to someone. He's going to be out of the shelter by tomorrow. They've been in contact with my vet here and there is nothing to hide. Had I known the severity of her situation I'd have done this way before now. Thank you to EVERYONE. I really appreciate all the effort put in.
