In over my head with 2lb 12wk old yorkie puppy A little over a month ago I made the decision of getting a little yorkie puppy. With a bit of time I've realized that the valuable time and love she needs I just can't give to her. I'm a recent college graduate and thought adopting a puppy would be the perfect thing, but I have gotten myself in way over my head and I need HELP! I received her from a breeder near Hillsboro, Oregon and I have all the paperwork that goes along with her and she is getting her second of three combination shots this Saturday. I have thought about calling the breeder and getting her advice on the situation.. I don't know I guess I am kind of just stuck and not really sure where to go from here. Thought someone on here may have some advice on what to do. Thank you. |

If this is a Caring and Responsible Breeder, than I would contact them. If this is a BYB or a Puppymill or Pet Store type of place, then I would #1 contact a Reputable Yorkie Rescue if you are thinking of surrendering her, or #2 try to place her yourself :( |

Aww - I feel so bad for you. I hope the breeder will take her back. Otherwise, please take the time to check out anyone wanting to purchase her. I hope you won't sell her for breeding. Good Luck and please let us know what happens. |
Honestly I don't think I can give her away...I made the decision to get her and I've wanted a Yorkie for so long now, i guess just didn't realize she would be so much work and STRESS!! But I am willing to endure it, because just seeing her sleeping I couldn't dare get rid of her. Thanks for everyone's input. I'm sure i'll be back on here daily for advice with raising her!! It must get easier right?? |

Right now she is still a Baby - just like human babies. Soon she will need to be spayed, she start teething (biting-chewing), and she'll start to grow and calm down a bit. It will be a few months for each stage, but after she gets to be about a year to 1.5 yrs, she will finally be pretty set on all the training, etc... Best Wishes :p |

I agree it can seem like a lot of work but the rewards will be more than you ever imagined. My Bella Mia still does things that just make me love her more and more. She just wants to make our family happy. She is almost 2 and still wanting to learn new tricks. She just learned how to sing (very loudly :D). I could not picture not having her in my life. Come here for advice the people are great and you will better knowing your not alone in your adventure:aimeeyork to raise a wonderfully yorkie. |

I'm glad you decided to keep her. When I got Daisy and Teddy I had forgotten how much work a puppy was. Most of my previous dogs had been rescues and were not puppies when I got them. What started out as a lot of challenges, turned into the best little doggies I have ever had. The joy they have added to my life far outweighs any 'challenges' I went through starting out. Hang in there and know that it will be well worth it in the end. Congratulations and best of luck to you. Stay close to YT and you will have a lot of advice and support. |
How about a "doggie daycare" person? Someone that also goes to school that could come and spend a few hours here and there, while you are studying or going to class? (If you could afford to pay them a little, I am sure many students would love some "going out for coffee $$). That would give you a break AND give another college student their "Yorkie fix". |
Well....if you decide you can't keep her and the Breeder won't take her back you can always ship her to me! I'm ready for another one! :>) |

Congrats on your new baby! Yes taking care of a new puppy can be a daunting task but oh so worth it. They do need a lot of your time and attention. They are so worth the effort. They give so much love in return. Please keep us posted on your babies progress. There are so many caring, knowledgeable, and supportive people here. If you ever need any advice or have an issue you need help with, just post and there will always be someone here that can help. They are amazing here.
