| Buddy Belt Sizing Hi! I am new to the board (joined in Sept. but haven’t posted) and am the proud mom of a 1 year old Yorkie named Poppy. I was perusing the threads here and see that the Buddy Belt is a highly recommended harness. The problem is sizing! Poppy is 10 lbs. (yeah....the breeder assured us she would top out between 5 and 7#..lol) and has an 11 inch neck and a 15” girth. I can’t decide whether to go with a 4 or a 5. Also, if anyone has any less expensive, but equally as secure, option, I’m all ears! She is a puller and a consummate escape artist, so safety is my primary concern. Thanks so much in advance, and we are looking forward to being members! |

| Welcome to YT, I do not use buddy belts but many members do, I am sure you will get the answer you are looking for.

| The neck doesn’t matter with buddy belts only the chest. If you are going to put it on over any clothing at anytime then I would go with the bigger one. I personally love the buddy belts but with 4 it’s hard to have many different colors.

| Thank you so much! After reading your response, I looked in the BB website and actually found a retailer that carries these in store (and they have Pink!) about 35 miles from me. We are going this afternoon to try one on and make sure I get the right size. Thanks again!! |

For JakJak, I ordered his first BB on Chewy.com, and when that didn't work out, we got a full refund and got to keep the BB which we happily passed on to someone on this board. I do recommend Chewy.com because of their great customer service.

I found the perfect harness on Amazon, believe it or not. I know you found one but that seems far to go. They have plenty in Pink, and lot to choose from. The Prices, are the Best, you get all the information you need, free delivery and returns. Sometime it’s not clear when these post are new so if I’m late I apologize. Best of Luck with your Baby, Poppy! Ty | |

| Thanks all for the advice, especially the tip about Chewy carrying these! We made the trip to One Haute Dog and had Poppy fitted. I’m glad we did, as I measured her wrong! She was a 4, but just barely! I could have even gone down to a 3.5, but with the 4 I am going to be able to get it on over a coat as well this winter, as there are several holes left on the buckle. I just wish they carried the liners, but I’m going to have to order those online. So far, it’s the best investment we’ve made thus far as Yorkie owners. She is so strong that I was constantly worried about the Velcro on two of her harnesses, and even held my breath with the plastic clips on another. We are taking her on a 4 night get away to a secluded cabin we rented in Ohio, and I had visions of her slipping her harness and taking off into the woods. There is ZERO chance she will be able to escape this Buddy Belt, which makes it perfect! So while our two senior pups are cheering at having time off from Poppy (they are staying home with my daughter, who, incidentally, threatened to leave home if we didn’t take Poppy with us...lol), we will be experiencing the joys of traveling with a headstrong, very busy Yorkie—wish us luck! |
