Kwigy Bow Carriers Hi, I'm thinking about ordering a KB carrier from Ryan. Just wondering if any one has a yorkie that is 7-8 lbs and used one of theses and if you might have any pics of them in it. It looks like these are the carriers to buy. I have seen lots of helpful pics on here but they were little doggies. :) |
We have a KB Alex. Bailee is 6 pounds and LOVES his purse. He is on the low side of 6 pounds and fits well in the bag. Check the specs for the bags. I mention we are going out in the purse and he gets in, crouches down and I zip the purse. Ryan was great to deal with. It seemed like I had the bag before I paid for it. I'll try to get a picture. :) |
My Riley is about 8 pounds.... I have the Black Alex in a Large and he Loves it!!!! He goes just about everywhere with me, in it. I have some photos at work I'll have to download, tomorrow. :) |
Once I can afford one, I'm SO getting one lol. These are the most stylish doggie carries I have seen yet! |
Rosie is 5 1/2 lbs and fits in the small just fine. I would think yours would fit in a large for sure. maci_mace, you are right. They are very stylish. I take Rosie to the mall all the time in mine. I use the side pockets as a purse. No one has figured us out yet!! They just assume it is my purse! |
They are great. We were shopping one day and a lady stopped me, saying she was admiring my purse when she noticed two little eyes looking out at her. She thought she was seeing things, and suddenly she saw two little ears. I thought it was pretty funny. :D:D I like the challenge of sneaking him in stores to see if I will get caught. So far, so good. ;) :) |
I have had Riley in the Starbucks... CVS.... the corner store.... No one suspects a thing!! and he doesn't make a peep. If I am walking him and he knows it is on my arm, he usually wants me to put it down and he jumps right in.... and I carry him. LOL!!!!! |
I love my Kwigy-bo! And I blame all of these lovely ladies on here for me getting it!:p Peer pressure! And I plan on getting another one from Ryan, because it was such a breeze! I'm actually getting a large one this time. Just in case I plan on an addition! ;) P.S. I have the smalll and Giz fits in it, but he likes his wiggle room, so I'm thinking about getting a large and Giz is about 5 lbs. |
Thanks for all the info. I'm nervous about buying one .... I don't normally carry a purse and I have never carried a large one, I know large purses and bags are in style right now. I am short 5'1" so I didn't want it to be to big for my body. :( |

How old is your furbaby?? Is it finished growing?? |
3 Attachment(s) Here are pictures of Riley in his Large Black Alex. I had a small when he was younger.... but decided once he hit about 7 pounds to get a Large... He was more comfortable.... for sure!! :) |
1 Attachment(s) Here is another.... He wants Buddy to come with!! :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...?albumid=13083 |

Hope will be 8 at the end of the month. I have only had her for a month now. Do you have a problem with the bag being lop sided while you carry it if he goes more to one end? |
He is very cute, thanks for the pics. Hope will be 8 at the end of the month but I have only had her for 1 month. Do you find that the bags becomes lop sided, while you carry it, if he goes more to one side ? |

I'm short as well, and hate carrying purses. the only advice I can give you is measure your dog. Weight means nothing! Kaji is 7 lbs (8 when he's chunky) and fits in a small KB Alex. I've seen shorter dog's that weigh much more than Kaji does, and I've seen taller dog's that weigh much less. To insure proper fit for your pup, focus more on measurements, not on weight. |

Riley used to curl up in the Small.... but I don't have that problem, in the Large, at all..... He is much more comfy in it....even though it is only a teeny bit longer. You should measure her and really go by measurements.... rather than by weight. Riley is about 8 - 9 " tall and is about 12 - 13" long from base of neck to beginning of tail. |
The style of the Kwigy is not normally my style (I am a Vera Bradley gal). However, for Bailee, anything goes. I wouldn't be surprised if my DH carried the bag, just to make Bailee happy. :) |
I have two KB Alex bags (putty and gold) and LOVE them. I've owned them for about... 2 years now and have used them several times a week. Unfortunately, the zipper on the gold one broke recently and the strap on the putty one is peeling:( I am pretty sad, but will most likely be buying another soon. Both my 5 lber and 7 lber ride snugly in my bags, so measure your pup to see what size you will need... What is most important is that they ride comfortably :) |

I have three KBs... two large (black croc. & putty/python) and the one small (black) that was my first purchase. I kick myself for ever getting the small...ZoE is 7.2 pounds and there's no way she fits in it comfortably. |

ZoE is so darn cute. |

Hoping Gizmo is feeling much better. He needs to drag you up north to play...we just opened a dog park in our town this past Sunday...the first one in Genesee County :) |
Do think a five year old would get use to it? |

Here's our new dog park...right next to the Black Creek Trail that ZoE and I walk on a few times each week. |
Oh my goodness, that's too cool. I just showed my husband and he's been around there so many times-had to explain where it was to me:p- we'll have to meet up there one day. That place looks like fun and we're always looking for places, besides Frankenmuth, to take Giz up there. |
Gracie is 5 pounds and one year old. She is not happy when I put her in the Kwigg Bo. She didn't like having to be squished down. I guess she would rather sit up. She has put up with it but would rather not get in so I have to put her in it myself and zip it up before she gets out. I feel like I'm being mean since she does not like it. I put her in a travel crate when we go in the car as I don't feel safe putting her in just a doggie car seat. She is not a fan of the car so she feels safer in the crate as well. Anyway I have to wrestle her into the bag once we get where we are going. I'm looking for something that will allow her more head room. I am considering getting the Fundle sling carrier as it is supposed to be quite supportive of the baby and you can let their head out or put their head down when you need to hide them. It comes in a lot of different fabric colors. The thing that really caught my attention is that it can be secured to the car seat so I would not have to take her out of one carrier and into another. I'm not sure if that is really going to be as safe as I would like so I'll have to see how it works. If she likes it then it will make things much easier on me. |
It's funny because Emma LOVES our KB, she gets in herself! When I take it out, she knows we are going out. Carmel...doesn't like it too much. He whines and I feel bad, but otherwise he needs to stay home alone. It's so much easier with Emma...I wish Carmel would just cooperate! |
Thanks everyone for all of the feedback. Hope is will be 8 at the end of the month I have only had her for a month. She had the heartworm treatment and had to stay on cage rest for a month. She didn't really like being in the crate so i would have to carry her around. I started putting her in my bag and she loved it. She would sink down so it was more like a sling type. I know for a fact that was the first time she had ever been in a carrier so i guess it depends on the yorkies temperament on wether one is to old or not. We were at pet co the other day and I tried to put her in one of the soft carriers and she didn't like it very much. So I guess if she can sit up in the KB and stick her head out most of time she would do okay. I guess i will have to go with the large cause she hit 8 lbs the other day at her vet check. thanks again! |
Gracie has never been in a crate except to go to the vet or the groomer so that may have something to do with why she does not like getting in the KB. I really think she will like the Fundel carrier because she will feel close to me and more secure. She is such a lap dog and is used to sleeping next to me at night, too. Now I wish I had gotten the KB when she was a puppy. Well, I'm still learning. |
