Steam cleaner solution Hi just a bit confused and I would like to steam all carpets...not just spot clean as I do with the bicarb...in the mix recommended, is the peroxide 20 vol and do you add any water etc to it or just straight? Never used a steam cleaner so a bit of a dummy in this respect. Thx in advance |

I know this is a way old thread, but I'm glad I found it. I've tried Nature's Miracle - and it works well - but the amounts I'm having to purchase are breaking the bank. I'm going to try this and see how it goes. I hope you're all right and that it works. Thanks! |
I have been using this since I found it a few years ago..works very well & I have never had it discolor any carpets or fabric. I need to find a place to buy a larger container though..I get some weird looks buying a dozen 32oz bottles of peroxide..lol.. |
What's the best way to do it? To put it in a steam cleaner or to coat the carpets after steam cleaning or before steam cleaning? |
question, peroxide will make dogs throw up, so if your dogs walk on the wet carpet did any of them get sick? |
I just use solution on stain directly via steam cleaner. I always just use my steam cleaner, it evenly distributes the solution & soaks the area to the pad where the stain usually gets to. |
No, dogs have to ingest hydrogen peroxide to throw up. |
An old thread, but I'm so glad I found it. I am trying the recipe out tomorrow! :D |
OOOOOO I am so excited right now. I am bookmarking this thread. All of these success stories have me super excited. Our condo is wall to wall carpeted and for the past week all we can smell is our little one's pee. We decided to get a new Bissell steam cleaner because no matter how many times we use Nature's Miracle and our shampoo cleaner, it doesn't take the smell away. Can't wait to try this! |
Going to try this.Thanks |
So far, so good. I tried it yesterday on a water hog mat that we have by the back door that I know has been peed on. I just mixed up a cup of it and sprayed it on the mat, saturating it pretty well. I don't smell the pee anymore and we have a heated floor in that room which concentrates the odor when it's on (it's a sunroom with tile flooring which would be ice cold in cold weather otherwise). I'm anxious to try it in my steam cleaner on the carpet in the bedrooms and down the hallway. Yay! |
Hi everyone - I'm fairly new to posting (read a whole lot of wonderful information on here though) so I hope I'm doing this right... Has anyone noticed if this removes the odor from our furbaby's noses also - or just from ours? I'm trying to find something to help Bridget NOT want to go in the same places, so I need to remove what she smells. |
I am in a rental and I can't wait to try this. |
I made this yesterday and it worked great! |

In the morning the rest of the pee is on the towel and I throw it away. The only time I spray NM and use my cleaner right away is when it's poo and as soon as it is all clean then I spray again with NM and leave it cover over night. But with this recipe I have saved a lot of money with 3 lil pee pee boys :( |

I would like to hear from the steam cleaning people as to how you used it. 1. Did you first sprayed it with a spray bottle all over? 2. If you use a spray bottle do you spray before steaming or after? 3. Or did you use it in the steam clear's solution bottle or in the clean water area? Thanks for any info. on this:thumbup: |
I can only add my 2 cents- I use a bissel spot bot and put it full strenth in the water tank. Loved it so much that I went out and bought 4 more big bottles of the hydrogen peroxide to have on hand. |

Thanks for your reply, I also have the bissel spot bot but right now it is not working right. The water tank is not releasing the water but the rest working just fine, I just have to use spray bottles to wet the carpet then pick it up with the bissel. I wonder if I can take it to get fixed, because the rest of it still works just fine. |
I tried this the other day and it worked great!! I need a new steam cleaner though...I think mine is on its last leg!!! |
Thanks for sharing this recipe! Question has anyone used this one ceramic tiles, does it leave a residue, and do I have to make a fresh batch each time or can I keep it in a spray bottle to do quick cleans when they just peed? |

So I was thinking... after vacuuming, should I soak the "problem areas" with the cleaner first, then steam clean with a carpet shampooer OR should I just put this recipe in the steam cleaner OR should I shampoo first, then soak with the recipe? |
I'm going to have to try this! I wonder if you mixed it up in a bottle, how long it lasts for? |
pet stains I use borax and it really works. I dampen the spot with warm water then pour borax on the spot. Let it sit until it dries. Then pick up the dried mound of borax-- (it will be hard) and vacuum. You may need to do it a few times. It pulls up the urine from deep in the carpet. The clumps will even be a light yellow from the urine when they dry. |
way earlier in the posts they said you use it in the steam cleaner IN PLACE of the water. You cannot save the mix. Use up your batch and make fresh every time. It DOES NOT store. This grade of hydrogen peroxide WILL NOT discolor or fade your carpet. |
