| ![]() UK - A DOG was rescued from a smoke-filled flat by firefighters. The Huddersfield crew had to smash down the front door to get into the ground floor flat at Wain Court, Berry Brow, at 12.15pm yesterday. A man had put a pressure cooker on the stove, but forgot all about it and went out. The pan overheated and filled the flat with smoke. His Yorkshire Terrier pet was carried to safety by Firefighter Scott Baxter and quickly recovered from the effects of breathing in smoke once outside. The flat was damaged by the smoke. FIREFIGHTERS had to tackle two chimney fires within a couple of hours. Chimney blazes are rare these days so it was a coincidence two happened in different parts of the town so close together. Slaithwaite firefighters dealt with one at a house on Stones Lane in Golcar at 6.20pm yesterday. At 8.15pm their colleagues from Huddersfield fire station had to deal with one at a house at Farmhouse Court in Crosland Hill. http://ichuddersfield.icnetwork.co.u...name_page.html |
