| I would have never thought about being scared of the postman, but then again, the one that delivers on my block drives a Jeep to deliver the mail... Gizmo also doesn't seem to be a very lucky name for Yorkies (see here) --- A TINY dog died after a clod-hopping postie trod on it as he delivered letters. The mailman squashed Victoria Baguley’s Yorkshire terrier Gizmo as it yapped on the doorstep. As he left through the gate he told the air hostess’s dad Eric: “Sorry, I think I tripped over him.” Last night furious Victoria, 32, demanded an independent probe into the incident. The Royal Mail has offered her £130 compensation. She also wants the unnamed postie, who is still on his round, to be banned from delivering to her house. She said: “I cannot believe my little dog was killed by someone simply falling over him. He had internal bleeding and severe injuries.” Victoria who shares a house with Eric, 73, her mum Ivy, 72, and another terrier, was working when Gizmo died from head injuries in Droylsden, Greater Manchester. The Royal Mail spokesman said the incident was thoroughly investigated by them and watchdog Postwatch. But Victoria, who keeps Gizmo’s ashes in a box, added: “I don’t want money, I just want to know what happened to my dog.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005192818,00.html |

| I reckon the postie must have kicked out at the dog, my hubbys a postie and he cant undersand how you could accidentally tread on a dog walking up someones drive. Just on the defense of the nice posties though, i wish if people have a dog that is prone to biting they wouldnt let it just out in their front gardens when they know the postie comes every morning. Ad has been bitten a few times by different dogs, one of the worst bites being from a yorkie, which leapt at him and embedded its teeth in his leg!

| That poor lil pup,and owners. I think it would take a heck of a lot more than tripping over the dog to kill it. I know first hand that yorkies are a tougher breed than that. Unless the postie was a 300 pound man with a size 15 shoe..... SHAME ON HIM...... |

| That is so sad, I can however understand how this can happen, as people are not aware when tiny dogs are around.. With three pupies in the house, Every step someone takes around here has to be VERY CAREFUL... |

| Especially if the dog was barking at him, it is unlikely he 'accidentally' tripped over him. I do feel bad for the postmen having to deal with rude people's dogs that bite. I understand they are the dogs 'worst enemy' many times, but it was not the little dog's fault. poor baby.
