| If I told you what you needed for "USDA Certified Breeder" in Iowa you would be laughing for days. It's a JOKE. I have talked to "him" personally also. (and for those of you in Iowa, you probably know who "him" is.)

Ok, I'm in Iowa and I have no idea who "him" is - maybe you could PM me & fill me in. I am hoping to become more involved in the protests at Petland & have been in contact with the contact person here in Iowa

| We just had a Petland store open in our town this last summer. I had never heard of them before. I had never heard of a puppy mill either. Just after they opened 4 dogs that were sold had parvo and only two survived. The news did a story on them and I decided that they probably weren't a very good store and then I started hearing about all this puppy mill stuff and it being associated with Petland. I have never set foot in that store and I don't intend to.

| We bought a yorkie from a petland (don't yell at me, this was before I saw the light and learned the truth about them) any way, the same thing happened to me. I asked about a puppy they gave me a price and when I brought my Hubby back the same puppy was double the price. they ended up selling her to me at the price that I was originally quoted, but I think the only reason they did that was because they were closing the store. When I went back a month later to get food they were closed. Luckily our dog is healthy because how would they honor there health garentee if they are closed? |

Yorkie Yakker | This is horrible!! I agree that these places should be shut down, but I also feel for the little puppies that are already there, it is not their fault and they deserve the best homes possible. I purchased Emilio from Petland. I purchased my previous dog from a breeder and had every intention of doing the same with getting a new Yorkie pup. I was pretty much set on a breeder and just went in there to look around. I saw Emilio and fell in love instantly (which is what they are counting on). I knew he was overpriced, but in my heart I also knew he needed a great home and so we decided to give him one. I decided that I could at least get him out of there. He is worth every penny I spent!! He has been a great puppy and I have since tracked down the breeder and called her and had her send me pics of the parents and her home. She seems to be decent, answered all my questions and provided me with all kinds of info on the parents. I guess we got lucky on that. I understand the anger and frustration, I feel it too, BUT I think the focus also needs to be on getting the dogs loving homes as well. |

| I understand buying a puppy from a pet store when you don't know better - but when you are educated - I believe you do not even go in these shops & get caught up by it all, including those cute little faces. For every pup sold in a pet store, you are putting money in the puppy mill owners pocket & more importantly, you are encouraging them to breed more dogs! Why would you do this! If the cycle is ever going to stop these pet stores need to be outlawed!

| It amazes me that people know all about this, and still buy from them.

| Puppy mills in the uk I live in the united kingdom, and go on a website called pets4homes.co.uk most days to look at what dogs are advertised. It is basically a classified website where anyone can advertise pets for sale, i used it last year and bougt 2 dogs and im now looking for a dog for my nan. Since discovering the website in February 2008 I noticed that there were lots of different adverts for small breeds of dogs which all had the same telephone number, some weeks this person advertises 10 litters of puppies they sometimes advertise older dogs and from the pictures, they dont look in the best condition. 3 months ago i telephoned the RSPCA (its the uk equivilent to the spca) and made them aware that this breeder was advertising 30 to 50 dogs per week and i susspected it was a puppy mill, they took the details i gave them and it appears that nothing has been done as the same people are still advertising. It is a disgrace that people shud be allowed to keep dogs in such inhumane conditions in order to sell the dogs for profit. These people are not dog lovers they are GREEDY, i dont know how they can spend their money without conscience knowing that they earned it through cruelty to animals. When i see these adverst and i look at the dogs eyes they dont look healthy like young dogs eyes should their eyes look like they are dead, and they probally rather would be than spending 24 hours a day every day in cramped dirty cages with no shelter from wind rain and snow. The rspca have done noything about it so what can i do, any suggestions? |

| This same Petland is in the news again tonight! Parvo in a Yorkie or something they were called a shorkie - not sure which they said. As soon as they post the video on the website I'll put the story up again. This is beyond ridiculous --- they need to be shut down. I can not understand why the city is not shutting them down!

| Puppy mills I know they are closing a lot of the pet stores in the Malls, but this one in one of the New Hampshire Mll is really bad.Everytime i go there to that Mall, I go in, there is not one good looking puppy in there all I'm sure from puppy mills. I feel so bad, they have a border collie good sized going back and forth in that crate, another Siberan HUsky, same thing and also a good sized Maltese eating all his poop. When I left on of the workers was standing outside in front of the door, she says to me Hi, how are you today.I said not to good after coming into this pet store.the Maltese in there is eating his poop. she says oh oh o, I will take care of it. This was about 1/2hr. before closing time. All I could think of was those poor puppies, they wanted out of those cages so bad. it's awful, I wish they would close Debby's petland out of that mall. |

| Sadly, I bought my Maddy at a Petland in Lutz, FL. I went in there after breakfast one day and came out with my child <3 I was aware of puppymills slightly. I had heard the term thrown around before, but I never fully understood what it meant and what they did to the poor little creatures. Maddy was "on sale". She was 5 months old when I got her in January and must have been a no go at Christmas. She was SO SO eager to get out of her kennel. She seemed so happy to be held... She had probably been in that kennel for at least 2 months? Breaks my heart I do regret buying from PetLand. She had kennel cough one week after getting home and I had to pay quite a bit in vet fees to get her on meds. I did NOT trust the vet that was free and "suggested" by PetLand ( they gave me the name of a vet to take her to that they would cover under her "7 day warranty".) The place they sent me to did not make me a happy camper. The vet who saw Maddy did not pet her, console her, or even really give her any attention. To them she was the next in crowd, not my baby. I took her to my husband's vet that he has a history with from our other dog. That vet told me that in that DAY alone, he had seen 3 dogs with problems, all from PetLand. One had to be hooked up to a nebulizer so it could breathe. So sad. Of course, I love my Maddy and wouldn't trade her for anything. And yes, a part of me feels like I "saved her" from PetLand. Who knows what could of happened if she was there another month?! Scares me to think about. Please don't buy from PetLand or any other chain. You are putting $$ in the pockets of the people who hurt our furbabies. I did... and wish I could take that money back! But keep my Maddy of course |
