Rocky has the itchies help 3 Attachment(s) Well im going to take him to the Vet tomorrow Monday but i just noticed he had these little red bumps look like little mosquito bites but im not sure what they are. He's been scratching like crazy poor baby i wish i could him relieve the pain. |
I don't know what those could be. Does he go outside to potty or anything? Could they be bug bites? Did you see any fleas on him? I have heard people suggest baby Benadryl to help relieve itching. I even saw a vet recommended dosage on here based on your dog's weight. I would do a search on here using the keyword "Benadryl". Poor baby! Hope he's better very soon. |
He has not been outside for a couple of days and the last time i gave him flea medicine was on June 25th so i know it's not that. And i know i dont have bed bugs because i dont have bites and i just changed my sheets last night and i always check my mattress. Havent seen any fleas on him either and just shaved him down too so i can see more clearly. Hmm i dont have any benadryl here for kids i think i have adults benadryl can i give him that ? if so how much |
if you are going to give benadryl it had to be children's liquid dye free.. it is 1 ml per 5 lbs. but be careful because it REALLY knocks them out!! poor little guy i hope he gets relief soon! |

Aww thanks Marcerella i dont have the kids one i think im just going to wait till tomorrow till i take him to the vet because i only have the adults one and it's not dye free either i think it's the purple one |
Hallie had a bad reaction awhile ago to grass and was itching so bad she couldn't stand it. I gave her the children's benadryl and it worked. I had to go out and buy it real quick so I learned my lesson, always have it on hand~ I hope Rocky is feeling better soon! Poor guy :( |
I just took my "nephew" Buddy to the vet last week for itching. The vet checked him out looking for bumps. He didn't find any,but said that there was a type of mange (sorry,I don't remember the name) that some dogs/puppies could get and it caused itching w/ bumps. Have you changed anything in your home, such as detergents, fabric softner, carpet fresh, etc. ? If so,this could be causing some type of allergic reaction. He prescribed Buddy Prednisone (sp? ) and it seemed to help within the first day. Before that, we were trying the childrens Benadryl, but it didn't seem to help much. Hopefully the vet can give him somthing to help/heal. Let us know how it turns out. |
Both of my babies seem to be itching a lot too these last few days, Ive checked them both over a few times and I havent found any thing. My first thought was fleas, they havent had any, but we do have stray cats. but nope. Im thinking about giving them both a bath to see if that will help. |

I would it helps.. just like a 1/4 a teaspoon see if makes a difference.. I give Bailey benadryl.. it does help. He get this itching once a year I think his is allergies. You hate to see them suffering..I know. Hope it helps. I put it on his food and he eats it right up ..the Cherry flavor. |
That looks like an allergy. Did you give him anything different to eat? Mine just got over a food allergy and the redness and tiny red bumps looked the same. |
The only thing i have changed in the past week is Saturday i got a sample of Minksheen i used to use Pet silk and i bathed him with Minksheen. The only other thing i changed was on Saturday i cooked for him peas, carrots and ground chicken those are the only two changes he has had the food i only gave it to him on Saturday. Maybe when i take him to the vet i will see about getting a allergy test for him. |
Update So i took Rocky to the vet yesterday for his red little itchie bumps and guess what he's allergic to the mink sheen shampoo that's the only thing that i have done different in the past week with him. I didnt change his food or anything only used the Minksheen shampoo. The vet said it definetly didnt look like any insect bites and he dosent have fleas either. She gave him a anti inflamatory shot of dexamethasone. She said he was going to pee pee alot and that would help relieve the itchies. She also said the little red bumps were not infected which is a good thing. This morning i felt for the little red bumps and they went down alot from they way they looked yesterday. Thanks goodness it was nothing worse, the bad thing is i already placed an order for the 16oz of minksheen shampoo i havent received it yet but i am going to see if i can return it. Thanks for all the well wishes! |
Glad it was nothing more serious! Sell the shampoo on here..someone will buy it. |

Yeah i most likely will sell it on here |
If you don't open the bottle when you receive it, I would think it would be fine to return it. I would email their customer service dept. and explain what happened and that the bottle is going back. It's kind of hard to argue with an allergic reaction. I would think that would be grounds to return the product unopened. Just my opinion. I am very very glad that he is responding to the treatment and doing better. :D The thought that it might be a type of mange had me worried there. |
I just emailed them and this is the email i got back from them. Order has already shipped. Costs us too much to intercept it. Did you dilute the shampoo with water. Some dogs get hives if you don't dilute it. When you receive it if you don't want to keep it you can send it back for refund or pass it on to a friend. Kay G Customer Svc i dont remember it saying to dilute it on the bottle |

I would post in the review section. I only saw positive reviews there. I like it, but this is ridiculous! |

My sample bottle says the following: For home use: Shake well before using. Wet pet as usual. Place a small amount of MinkSheen on hands and spread evenly across pet's coat, avoiding the eyes. Lather and let stand for 2-3 minutes, rinse. (That's as far as I read) Then it says... Directions for Groomer's use: Dilute MinkSheen from 4:1 to 10:1 depending on stye of operation and equipment. Wash pet in usual manner. (Then there's info about use with larger animals) Oh...and nothing about may cause hives or check first for allergic reaction....nada, zippo, nothing. |
Thats exactly what i remember it saying im not a groomer so i didnt dilute it Quote:

I am sorry Rocky had a reaction. I bet he is allergic to the ciitronella in it. I use it and havent had any problems luckily |

i guess it all depends on your baby some people it works good and some it dosent its just so weird that he had that bad reaction to it because im talking about his bumps were really red and they felt like he had tiny little balls under his skin like you would touch it and it was hard thank goodness the redness and swelling of the bumps went down and he's not scratching as much that shot really worked great for him. i just wanted to warn everyone in case their babies get a bad reaction to this shampooo. Dont want to bad mouth the shampoo because like i said it works for some pupies but it didnt on mine. |
I still havent received the shampoo and i emailed them today to see how it was shipped, because i wanted to track it see my email below. Read from bottom to top. You were to think that if they knew i was completely dissatisfied with the product they would say send it back we will pay for returning. I mean it's not a fortune i spent on it but im not rich to be giving away my money. 1 dissatisfied customer here :( -----Original Message----- From: Dermac [mailto:customer-service@touchofmink.com] Sent: Monday, August 20, 2007 11:28 AM To: Elisandra Subject: RE: [BULK] Your Touch of Mink Order Your pkg will be there today the 20th. However, you pay shipping to return it and it may be more than the cost of the product. I suggest donating the shampoo to a shelter or a friend.
