| ![]() Hello, I have two babies; one with some double-teeth and one with bad breath. While taking baby boy to the groomer for a haircut, the groomer said he has plaque build up... and then proceeded to scrape plaque off one of the teeth with her scissors! She then removed one of the double teeth! My baby boy is 6 years old. His older sister is 10. I will be taking baby boy to the vet to see about his teeth because of not only the bad plaque build up, but the double teeth too. This will be later, so in the meantime I'm looking for ways to prevent/remove the existing plaque. Are there foods, treats or toys that my yorkies can eat/chew to help reduce the plaque on their teeth? What have you used or heard of that works well? Thanks for your help. Matthias ![]() |

| ![]() Do you feed kibble? I am under the impression that that helps keep the plaque down. I am still learning though. |

| ![]() WOW - sounds like they still have some of their baby teeth!! Once you get the baby teeth removed and their teeth professionally cleaned, their breath should be fine. In the meantime, kibble and maybe bully sticks to chew on should help keep the tartar down.

| ![]() Here's the site for the Y.T. member selling Petzlife with free shipping http://www.sassypup.net/Dental-Care-...p-1-c-295.html Some members here have canceled their appointment for cleanings because this product did the job so well...the trick is being consistent with it, there's a "directions " page with tips on how to use the products...

| ![]() Thank you very much for the replies. I am disappointed slightly to hear of no treats/bones/chew-thingies they can bite into to do the job... as I do have a lack of confidence in sprays or gels, as they seem to wear away quick and must be somewhat caustic to work so well in a short amount of time. I question how it is for their longterm health for this product. ?? I will look into that product more. If there's anyone else who has some opinions, advice, tips, etc, I would appreciate it. Thanks to all. Matthias |

| ![]() You can feed them raw meaty bones, such as chicken wings, chicken drumsticks, chicken necks, turkey necks, lamb chops, meaty lamb ribs etc I have used different sprays and gels as well as brushing their teeth but nothing seems to work as well. Just make sure that they are raw not cooked (cooked bones are dangerous) and that you don't feed them to them within 5 hours of them eating kibble. |

| ![]() i bought my yorkie a toy from the store that is called i think fleecy cleans, basically its like a fleece toy that is in a rope form that that when they chew on it it helps clean the teeth and helps prevent plaque build up. Its a brightly colored rope toy that is made out of fleece that she chews on and actually likes it. i originally bought it, because i wanted her to have something soft to chew on other than socks and when i got it home i read the label and it said it is for the teeth. here is the link to the toy from petsmart http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...4961568&Ne=174 |

I think I'll get Max one of those today! Hope they've got them here. I also think that Petzlife is a good product. My dh wonders the same thing about the long term effects, but just so you can see what it does, here's a thread started by Kathryn_V with photos: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65468 there's also a product made by lebalab, you can read about it at their website here: http://www.lebalab.com/

| ![]() Hi! I have some Great Dental treats and some daily oral care that goes in their water. I use it for my girls and they just went to the vets recently for their annual checkup and my vet wanted to know if i had had their teeth cleaned! ![]() If you would like to check out the Oral Care for Dogs and Cats, just click below or go straight to it at Oral Care for Dogs and Cats Click here for the All Natural Dental Treats I personally would NEVER give my girls chicken or turkey bones. Bones can splinter and puncture their intestines. I think they can be pressure cooked and ground safely. Removing the extra teeth should help also as food can get caught in between them. If you are feeding canned or soft dog food, you may want to think about switching to kibbles since the soft food can promote tooth decay. Vets get rich cleaning dog's teeth all the time and it really shouldn't be necessary with the proper diet and care. A little prevention will definitely go a long way and save you big $$. Having the teeth cleaned also runs the risks with the anesthetic so i won't put my girl under unless it is absolutely necessary medically. ~~~Linda & PAK |
