| Home made treats Ours love these recipes does anyone else have any good recipes ? Milk bones 3/4 cup hot water 1/3 cup margarine 1/2 cup powdered milk 1 egg, beaten 3 cups whole wheat flour In large bowl pour hot water over the margarine. Stir in powdered milk, and egg. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time. Knead for a few minutes to form stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone shapes. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Cool. They will dry out quite hard. Makes about 1 1/4 pounds of biscuits. Garlic cheese treats 1 cup wheat flour 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 1 tablespoon garlic powder ( not garlic salt!) 1 tablespoon soft butter or margarine 1/2 cup milk Mix flour and cheese together. Add garlic powder and softened butter. Slowly add milk till you form a stiff dough. You may not need all of the milk. Knead on floured board for a few minutes. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees oven for 15 minutes. Let cool in oven with the door slightly open till cold and firm. Refrigerate to keep fresh |

| One of Bella's favorite treats is just yorgurt put into those small ketchup plastic cups you get at hot dog stands and then frozen - her favorite is Banna/strawberry

| I'm glad you're dog is able to eat what you make! I'm sure it's nice to know what goes in their snacks. Bodhi can't handle dairy, but I would love to know if there is a "Chicken Pate" type recipe out there to try in his kong. (We want an alternative to peanut butter). |

Pat dry. Dice the hearts and gizzards. Set aside. 2) Preheat oven to 350 F 3) In a small skillet, render the chicken fat over low heat. It will yield one tablespoon. Transfer the rendered fat to a small bowl and set aside. 4) In the same skillet, reheat on teaspoon of the reserved fat over medium head. Add the hearts and gizzards and cook until brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside. 5) In a food processor, combine the livers, egg, bone meal, garlic powder and salt. Process until smooth. Add the reserved hearts and gizzards. Process just to combine for a pate' with a chunky texture. 6) Prepare 2 mini-loaf pans by coating each with one teaspoon of the reserved fat. Fill equally with the mixture. 7) Bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Place a 9-inch cake pan in the oven and fill it with the boiling water. Sit the loaf pans with the pate' mixture in the hot water bath and bake for 30 minutes. 8) Remove and let cool then place in the refrigerator to chill until firm. 9) Remove from pans and place on an elegant saucer and garnish with parsley. Serve with plenty of fresh water. | |

| Here are a few i found all these recipes online. Apple cinnamon drops 1 large apple 1 cup oatmeal 1/4 cup honey 11/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup pf water 1/8 cupwhole wheat flour 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Directions: Preheat oven to 350 core. slice and mince the apple. In a large bowl, combine the minced apple bits, honey, water, cinnamon and oatmeal. Gradually blend in the wheat flour, adding enough to form a stiff dough. In a small bowl add 1/8 cup wheat flour. Spoon the dough by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Using the bottom of a glass dipped in the wheat flour (to prevent sticking), Flatten each spoonful of dough into a circle. Adjust the size of the drops based on how big a treat you like to feed your dog. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and flip each cookie to brown evenly on both sides. Reduce oven temperature to 325. Return to oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Let cool overnight. Harry's party pupcakes 1 large apple 2 eggs 11/2 cups wheat flour 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 1/4 cup oatmeal 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup plain yorgurt 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 tablespoons honey For the frosting: 8oz Neufchatel cheese(lowfat cream cheese) 2 tablespoons plain yorgurt 2 tablespoons honey 2-3 tablespoons flour chopped walnuts grated carrots Directions: Preheat oven to 400. Grease muffin tins. core, slice and mince the apple. Set aside. In a large bowl mix together flour, oatmeal,baking powder, and baking soda. In a medium bowl blend together yogurt, water, oil, honey and eggs, then stir in the apple and cheese. Add to the flour mixture and stir until mixed. Spoon into the muffin tins, filling each cup about three-quaters full. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin come out clean. Let restin the muffin tins for a few minutes, then remove and set aside to cool. For the frosting, combine the Neufchatel cheese (at room temperature), honey, and yogurt until smooth. add enough flour to thicken the frosting to a good spreading consistency. Frost the pupcakes, sprinkle them with chopped walnuts or carrot shavings and your ready fpr a doggone good party! makes 16-18 pupcakes. if you prefer a single layer cake, spoon batter into a pan and bake for an extra 15-20 minutes... |

| a few more lol Veggie Bones 3 cups minced parsley 1/4 cup carrots, chopped very fine 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour 2 tablespoons bran 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 to 1 cup of water Preheat oven to 350 degrees, rack on middle level. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. Stir together parsley, carrots, cheese, and oil. combine all the dry ingredients and add to veggies. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing well. Make a moist but not wet dough. If needed, add a little more water. Knead for one minute. roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness. Using cookie cutter or a glass, cut out the shapes and transfer them to the baking sheet. Gather the scraps and reroll and cut. Bake for 20-30 minutes until biscuits have browned and hardened slightly. (They will harden more as they cool.) Speed cooling by placing them on wire racks. Store in airtight tin. Banana Biscotti 5 cups flour 1/4 cup peanuts, chopped ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 egg ¼ cup vegetable oil 1 ½ cups banana, pureed 2 teaspoons vanilla water Preheat oven to 325F. Place dry ingredients in large bowl. Make a well in the center. Blend egg, oil and banana together. Add into the dry ingredinets in well. start combining together. Add water, one teaspoon at a time as needed. Knead by hand on table until mixed thoroughly. Form into logs approximately 2" - 2 1/2" high. Flatten so that log iis 6" - 7" wide by 1" high. Place on non-stick baking sheets or lightly greased ones. Bake 30 - 40 minutes. Remove and cool for 10 minutes. Slice into 1/2" - 3/4" slices. Place on baking sheets and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Store in airtight container. Banana Pupcakes 2 cups Water 2 bananas 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1 egg 3 tbsp honey Heat oven 350 degrees Mash bananas In Bowl Mix all ingrediants WELL Pour into cupcake pans Bake 20 mns. Pupsicles On those very hot, dog days of summer, try one of these cool treats taken from the Doggie Biscuit Book by Moneca Litton. Here are two flavours but you can make up your own, too. Vegetarian Ingredients Unsweetened apple juice Water -or- Meat Flavour Ingredients Unsalted meat broth Stalk of celery, chopped Water Method To make ice lollies for your dog, do the following:- Dilute unsweetened apple juice with an equal amount of water. Pour into an ice cube tray. Freeze and serve on hot days. -or- Blend meat broth with 1/2 stick of celery until mushy. Pour into an ice cube tray. Freeze and serve on hot days. Add these tempting ice cubes to your dog's water dishes. Some dogs will eat ice cubes even when they don't want to drink! Turkey Treats 1 pound ground Turkey 1/2 to 3/4 cup bread crumbs 2 Tbl. parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon garlic powder, more or less or none if so desired. Method Mix like a meatloaf and shape into cigar sized shapes. Bake on a cookie sheet (I spray with a non stick spray) at 350 degrees for 15- 20 minutes. Slice when cooled. They freeze well after they are cooled and sliced. |

| Thanks so much for posting the "Liver Pate'" recipe! Good recipes here. Keep 'em coming! This is my little Lo-Cal Treat for those with super delicate tummies: I started mixing in a drop of Iam's Sauce with water for Bodhi's ice cubes because he lost interest in the plain ones. This aromatic sauce makes them think it's something really special. The silly guy tends to drag ice onto the carpet, that's why I use very little flavoring. |
