is this food good enough for sammy ? hi, ever since the pet recall , i have started making my sammy's food. this is what i have him eat every day, i make a big batch and freeze it in containers ,so it lasts for awhile. boiled chicken breasts carrots spinach sweet potatoes lentils brown rice i chop everything up small, and when i feed him i also give him a total of 1/4 teaspoon of missing link he seems to be doing good on this food, but i would like to give him a variety of foods. my question is : am what i am feeding him good enough and do i need more vitamin supplements ? i am trying to find a good recipe for treats, so his teeth stay clean and free of tartar . does anyone know of a n easy treat recipe? i brush his teeth every night with the petzlife pink gel and i spray his mouth too. thanks so much ahead of time for all your help and answers elle |
When you home cook, you have to supplement w/ calcium. I use Solid Gold's Bone Meal. I also give the following, which has multi vit/mineral, digestive enzymes (good for cooked meat, since you cook out the natural enzymes), probiotics, and the Omegas: http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...at/999065.aspx I love this product bc I was giving a bunch of individual supplements, which can be a hassle and confusing - now I only give this and the bone meal. |
I'm sure there are members more knowledgeable than I, but that sounds great to me! :) I cook chicken tenders for Toto [I cook a big bag and use my Food Saver to freeze them and also freeze fresh chicken broth in ice trays and keep it on hand all the time. I feed her Force from The Honest Kitchen ... add minced chicken, a couple cubes chicken broth, Gerber carrots and green beans and she loves it. My vet approves!! Yours actually sounds better and has more variety. ;) |
