Dog Food: do you feed any of these?? I am currently feeding Canidea, but am always looking for the best. When I went to pick up a new bag of Canidea, the lady really talked highly of some of these other ones....so I started to wonder if any of these were better (ingredient wise). - I know all dogs are different, etc...I just wanted opinions and thoughts, etc about the ingredients and any experiences you have had with these foods. If anyone using any of these or have comments, etc. I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Thanks! Canidea: First on ingredients list....lamb meal, brown rice, canola oil, flax seed, suncured alfalfa meal, sunflower oil. THANKS AGAIN! |
I've fed morgan all of that but Solid Gold and Eagle pack. The natural balance is a good food for a pet store like petsmart and petco. I felt however that i could do better so we switched to wellness. Morgan wasn't too fond of it so we went to Canidae. We both liked the Canidae. She was also on Solid Gold Seameal which she liked better then the missing link, but i have switched her back to missing link plus for the glucosamine since i recently discovered she has LPs. On the same day i got the missing link plus i also bought Natures Variety frozen raw medallions. Morgan LOVES this food and gobbles it up so fast even with the ML+ on it. i'm gonna stick with this for a while because she loves it so much and its not much more pricewise then the canidae. |
Thanks for your thoughts....and wow, you sound like me...trying different things! I might as well stay with Candiea since they both like it and eat it well. We do Missing Link too, and we haven't had any problems with it. I am just always looking for new, better things and opinions on them! How do you feed the frozen raw medallions? Do you still feed Canidea and then give these as a special treat or Canidea in the morning and this at night or what? |
My friend feeds his lab Solid Gold and likes it. I was feeding mine Dick VP's food but switched to Kirkland Lamp & Rice from Costco for Abby and the small breed one for Alphy because he needs little pieces. I had someone recommend it to me and it pretty much had the same ingredients as DVP and the same ratings and the best part is it's only half the price. |
When Sissy first went on her dry food strike last summer, the Natural Balance meat roll were the only thing I could get her to eat. We then gradually went to Solid Gold Wee Bits. I didn't like the fact that the meat rolls were basically just meat without all the fruit and veggies the other premium foods have. She did pretty well eating a small amount of Solid Gold, but it was never more than that as that was when I began home cooking. The Wee Bits has lots of fish in it, so it smells pretty gross, but the girls still like it as an occasional snack. We are now using The Honest Kitchen Embark and Force. I love it and the girls do too!! |

Question about missing link if you don't mind me asking, how much do you give your little guy? morgan is getting 1/4 a day give or take. i think i should be giving her more but she's only 4 lbs. |
I am currently feeding DVP Natural Balance Sweet Potatoe and Fish. I went with this one because it was something that was good for sensative stomach pups and was also a good food for all ages. I am very pleased with the results.....and it has been about 2 months now. It is wonderful to be feeding one food instead of 3 different foods....and better yet to have everyone eating and no tummy problems!! |

We were using the Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken, which was a great quality natural food. They didn't like the duck at all and the kibbles were huge. After the dog food recalls, I started doing research on all the different brands and found one that seemed to be so superior to all the store bought brands. The girls are so picky but they LOVED this food. They ate it for 2 months and they still love it. I was so pleased that i am now a distributor of it and all the products & supplements too. It is all natural and the kibbles are small, which we like. It is also for puppies and adults so there is no need to get 2 different foods. The Canadae is good too. Whatever you decide on, just make sure you get a food that doesn't have corn, wheat or by-products in there. We love the home delivery for super freshness. Who knows how long bags have been in warehouses or store shelves! |
Canidae 1 Attachment(s) I have feed Canidae All Life Stages for about 2 years. Before that I fed several other premium brands including Innova EVO and Wellness Fish & Sweet Potato. My furkids EAT the Canidae (which is a plus), they are extremely healthy, active and have GREAT coats -- take a gander at Peppy. |

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Cindy, Peppy is soooo GORGEOUS!!! BEAUTIFUL!! Makes me wish I had never cut Mojo's hair off....it will grow back, hopefully soon!!! You know, my groomer commented on how well Mojo's coat was when we took him in on Friday. She couldn't believe how much it had grown too since our last clipping. So, I know that Canidae and the Missing Link are doing something! Yay! Lily was on Eukanuba (forgot which formula), but we have been switching her to Canidea and haven't had any problems with that. BTW...Jodie...never worry over posting something in my threads....I was thinking the same thing.....plus, when people post in my threads, I usually learn more from their questions too! So hyjack away! hee, hee:p |
