| Raw Diet Recipes... Does anyone know a good raw diet mixture/recipe? I was thinking of making my own instead of buying since it's really expensive and hard to find. I'm thinking of something in the lines of different beef, chicken, turkey, and wild game mixes (meat, hearts, liver, tongue, bone etc.) all grounded up and stored in the freezer. I might have a frozen vegetable mix also. Problem is I don't know what percentage of meat to muscle to bone.. blah blah blah that I need to properly mix in order to gain a proper dog deit. I would prob add Missing Link supplement to the bowl when I put it out. I think this would be a whole lot cheaper in the long run since you can find bulk meats cheap and sometimes free. Anyone out there doing their own raw diet in mass amounts? |

| Dr. Pitcairn's Book :natural Health For Dogs In this book there is a few diets and he is respected by holistic and regular vets. Also Doniasea@aol.com is a nutritionist and she could help as well with supplements, etc both of these sources i would trust you have to do pure organic everything though to be safest |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | There are some really great RAW folks on here - so I hope they chime in. "ChickenDido" told me her dogs did terrible on ground bc dogs tend to gulp ground meat instead of chewing/tearing, which is one of the main goals of feeding raw. Also, she says that grinding makes the meat much, much more susceptible to bacteria - so diarrhea might have a red carpet there. Although, if you feed it partially frozen (and you froze it immed. after grinding it), you may get the chew/tear method in that way. I'm not much of a help here, but thought I'd toss in nonetheless.

| Hi and welcome to YT!!! Have you checked out the line by The Honest Kitchen? They have fabulous freeze-dried raw food that you simply rehydrate when ready to feed. There are currently 3 different formulas (two without grains) and another on the way that is vegetarian. The protein levels of this raw diet is much more in line with regular dog food. All the ingredients are organic, human grade and the plant is FDA approved. I don't feel the cost is that much and the convenience is great!! They will send you a free sample if you check out their website. http://www.thehonestkitchen.com/index.shtml
