| a little worried I may just be getting concerned for no reason, but.. Brea seems so much smaller and more frail somehow. I took her to the vet to have her weighed when I had Myla's rabies done. She had gained a tiny bit since her surgery but she still seems so little to me. When she curls up in a ball on the couch to sleep she's just a little peanut lying there! She is 8 - 1/2 months old and weighs like 3.7#'s. When I pick her up, it just seems like there isn't as much there. I think she has pretty much quit growing cause she hasn't changed much in the past couple months. She had bloodwork done before her hip surgery and it all came back fine. She's playing and wrestling and eating ok most of the time, not all the time. Sometimes I hand feed her to get her to eat. Her bm's are fine and she still loves treats. I don't know... maybe it's just cause I'm not use to them that small? Myla (Maltese) is 4 months old today and weighs about an ounce or two more that Brea. Kaya is 5.6#'s and Tinka the tank is around 9#'s. I don't even know what else to say.... I'm just uneasy and don't know what I would do without her if something happened - but I know you all feel that way about your babies. |

My furkids Donating Member | I'm no expert but, her weight sounds fine to me for her age. Lillie was 1.6 lbs when I got her at 8 weeks...she is now 13 months old and weighs 4 lbs. Yorkies weight (standard) is between 4 and 7 lbs.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie is my smallest at 3 1/2 lbs and 1 1.2 years old, but by far my healthiest and spunkiest. Sounds like she is just a little one.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I kind of know how you feel - Marcel is 7 mths old and weighs 2 lbs. 4 ounces - I'll be thrilled if I can get his adult weight to 2.5 - 3 pounds. He is a tough little guy - but I'm fully aware of how very vulnerable he is at all times. He has a little "bird body" if you know what I mean - not frail exactly...but just really small. I do worry excessively, and I'm trying to learn not to - all I can do is try to give him the best possible life and love he can have.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Exactly. He is really is so vibrant, hearty, thriving, active, happy, and strong - that I can't be too paranoid about his size. Also, he came from a great breeder - so I trust his genes will treat him well.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Well here ya go I happen to have a pic of 3 babies and can explain thier weights. All 3 of these come form the same parent different litters. Dad is 5 lbs and mom is around 7 The dog on the left is Ada, she is 1.4 yrs old and weights 7 pounds. The monkey in the middle is my Diggy he is 4 months old and 3 pounds. The dog on the right is my Bella she is 2 years old (June 9th). Now she was 6.0 pounds in the winter. Then I introduced Diggy...well she eats more now but is so much more active. She was 4.11 last Friday at the vets. It seems like a huge weight loss but I switched her to home cooking and all holistic foods and from commercial treats to fruits veggies and natural healthy treats. As you can see she is very tiny framed...that's her laying on the couch with Diggy and she is not much bigger than him! Weight loss and weight gain totally used to freak me out...I had like a 45 minutes visit/chat with my vet she is just AWESOME young, vibrant, and always willing to get to the bottom of any question I have. She goes by the curve in dogs rib cages...if she can feel the curve they are fine..if its a lil hard to feel they are a lil cubby and if she has to really press to get to them....TEAPOT! lol She has always said Bella has the frame of a 3.5-4.5 pound yorkie. so she even now is still a lil chubby But I refer to her as "buff" she is solid muscle and vet says she is fine ) I know what it feels like to stress over weight, food, sleep, everything over you baby. I hope this helps you even a lil bit. If your baby is eating, drinking, has wet nose, playing, and nice healthy pink gums. I think she is fine. Yorkies are no different than us.... Some eat and eat and never gain....some never eat and are over weight!
