| Louie not feeling well after shots...please help! Today Louie went to the vet and he got 3 shots for the first time all at once... a Dhlpp booster, a lyme disease booster, and a rabies canine one year booster (and he gave him heartguard)...we went shopping this afternoon and he seemed a little sluggish but not much. A few hours ago he fell asleep and you can tell his butt is really sore. He started shaking a little...and im jus wondering is this normal? My vet said he would lose his appetite and def be sleepy, but nothing about the shakes. Anything would be helpful |

| Do you have any NutriCal on hand? I would definately give him some! If no NutriCal, then definately some sugar water. It's normal for him to not be feeling like himself after his shots, but if he hasn't eaten, is blood sugar is probably low and you need to get it back up asap! |

| poor little man! you can put a hot compress on the area where he got the shots... it will bring blood to the area and help the healing. Next time tell your vet you want his shots done separate, two weeks apart.. the rabies is the one that knocked him out... just keep trying to get food and water in him... Layla reacts horrible too. and you can expect a large lump on the area for sometimes up to a month! we send hugs and kisses |

| I would not use a vaccine that contains lepto in it, the dhlpp sounds to me like it does, lepto is not recommended for small dogs. But now your talking about me, I'm sooo picky when it comes to vaccinating. I also dont allow the rabies shot to be administered at the same time they receive the dhpp. I wait at least 3wks or more to give the rabies seperately. Some dogs do well with all these shots at once but why risk it with the lil ones, JMO. He will be uncomfortable for a day or two, if you see him with skin reddened and swollen, breathing difficulty etc call/go to vet. Hope he feels better soon!

Never give artificial sweetners to a dog! It can be very dangerous! It causes extreme highs and lows in their blood sugar and can be deadly!

| Update on Louie...how's he feeling today? I never knew the vaccines weren't custom fit for each individual animal...I'm going to ask the vet about this, don't see why a Yorkie and a Lab would have the same dose...Hmmmmm???

| Thanks for all your concern and help Louie is back to his normal hyper self lol...Im def going to purchase some NutriCal asap and I'm strongly considering changing vets. I got a few referrals, we did call the animal hospital in our area that night and according to them the vet can give the rabies shot along with other shots. In my opinion I dont care that he CAN give it to him but common sense, why would you chose to put him thru all the side effects if he didnt have to. We feel like this is our fault for not educating ourselves enough on his breed in regards to shots and trusting this vet completely instead of doing some research. I personally should know better, I have Lupus and Ive learned doctors are capable of doing wrong too Some change is def in order Thanks again for all your help
