| Keeping our babies clean... I have a few questions concerning bathing and hair maintenance. First of all, how often should I bathe Luna? She gets kinda stinky within a week, but that's when I get the dog perfume and kinda use it, while TRYING to brush her hair. The first time I gave her a bath I was so nervous for her. I thought she was going to hate me afterwards because she seemed to nervous. I really need help with this area. Another thing is, those crusties that form from her eyes It gets caught in the hair by her eyes and I just have no idea how to get them out unless I forcefully use a baby wipe to get them off, which she hates. She is very finicky still and doesn't let me touch her face much. What a little pest! Thanks all!

| Wash her as needed, we sometimes wash him every 3-4 days if he goes outside to play and gets dirty in the process, but if he's clean, he doesn't get a wash. I think it's been at least two weeks since his last one, and he still smells fine. Make sure you don't get water in their nose, they HATE that! For the crusties under their eyes, you just need to get a fine-tooth comb. I'll try to take a picture when I get home to show ya what it looks like, but I'm sure it's available at any pet store. What you do is just brush that from the eye area down, and it gets rid of the eye boogers really well. Your Yorkie will have to get used to it, but I think she will eventually. Also, if you don't have the comb on you, you can just dab a piece of wet cloth or napkin and clean the area for her. To get her used to you touching her face, you can try to gently pet her head a lot to get her used to your touch. Then work your way down, and try rubbing the area between her eyes, my Yoda loves it and if he's laying down when I do this, he usually takes a little nap. After that, you can try to gently rub the side of her face, etc... I think this kind of interaction works best while they are laying on their back, or if you 'get down' with them on the floor and play with them there. Hope that made sense! |

| You can clean her eyes with a cotton ball soaked with saline solution, the use of a fine tooth comb (or a flea comb) will take all the boogers always easily. As per baths, i used to give weekly baths, now i only give as needed which is always around 15 days. You can make Luna like (and by like i mean accept cuz i think they will never really like it... ) to be cleaned by associating it with something she likes. Exemple, take her for a walk after taking a bath, give her a treat after cleaning her eyes, etc... |

| Washing the face is something that Ahia has learned to tolerate. I found she really likes it if i use warm water instead of cool. Getting her hair out of her eyes is something we have to work on tho.

| Thanks everyone for your replies! Fasteddie: I was wondering if that comb was the same as a flea comb, because I have one but I wasn't sure if the two combs were much different?

| It could be considered a flea comb I believe, I really don't know the name of it, Yoda's Mommy got it for him, but it works great for eye boogies! |
