| Nutro Dog Food Hi - My puppy Emma eats Halo Spots Stew wet food, so luckily we are in the clear. BUT for her dry food and treats we use all Nutro products. I know it was only the wet food that was recalled. Should I be concerned about her dry food/treats and switch to something else. Just being a paranoid mom |

| JMO I don't think so. Mine also eat the Nutro. I would think that the can and dry stuff are not made in the same containers. I'm not sure. I'm not really to concerned about it unless that came out and say the dry stuff as well.

| I also feed the babies a mix of Nutro kibble and Innova kibble. I was immediately concerned when I saw the name, even though I know it's for the canned and pouch foods. I don't know whether I should continue feeding it to them

Supposedly that is the ingredient that is bad in the foods. If you see the wheat gluten, I'd switch just to be safe. | |

| vainchick5 --- I feel the same way!! I would not be as concerned but our puppy has been having some tummy issues lately. It has been pretty bad so I even took a stool sample into the vet this morning. Unfortunately, I will not know anything until tomorrow. That is the main thing that got me concerned. She is still acting quite spunky though which is GOOD! |

| Ok it looks like we're safe on the kibble side. Here's what I got from the Nutro website: City of Industry, Calif. (March 17, 2007) ? As a result of the Menu Foods North American recall of specific canned and small foil pouch ?wet? cat and dog food, Nutro Products, along with many other pet food companies, has announced a voluntary recall on specific pet food products manufactured for it by Menu Foods. This recall applies to certain wet food only. No dry Nutro pet foods, biscuits or treats are impacted by this matter and no other canned or pouched Nutro products are subject to this recall. While Menu Foods has indicated that none of the products that may have given rise to pet illness or death were Nutro?s products, there have been a very small number of reported cases of pets becoming sick and developing signs of kidney failure from ingestion of products tied to Menu Foods. Signs of kidney failure include loss of appetite, vomiting and lethargy. Consumers should immediately stop using the involved products and consult with a veterinarian if their pet shows any signs of these symptoms. Nutro Products has engaged in this pro-active action out of an over abundance of caution for the health and well-being of our customers? pets. The only Nutro products involved in this recall are: Cat Pouch Products (Best by dates: December 03, 2008 through March 07, 2009); Dog Pouch Products (Best by dates: December 03, 2008 through March 07, 2009); Certain Dog 12.5 oz Canned Products (Best by dates: December 02, 2009 through March 07, 2010). Consumers should immediately discontinue feeding these products to their pets. For a detailed list of specific products please go to "Menu Foods Recall Information." Menu Foods is a contract manufacturer that makes a portion of canned and small pouch foods for Nutro Products and many other pet food manufacturers in North America. Similar such voluntary recalls are being conducted by other involved pet food manufacturers in the United States and Canada. This voluntary product recall involves the immediate discontinuation of all sales of the involved products, removal of these products from retail stores and the isolation of product in warehouses and distribution centers. Nutro?s products are 100% guaranteed and all returned product will be refunded. Nutro regrets any inconvenience caused by Menu Foods? recall. Nutro customers may check Nutro's website (www.nutroproducts.com) or contact Nutro's Consumer Hotline (800) 833-5330 for further information about its products. Nutro's website will be updated as more information becomes available.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I'm just over cautious, but I threw out all my Nutro. It was the kibble but I just want to be safe even though they are saying its only the canned. It just kind of freaks me out and I just thought I'd rather just get rid of it. |

| This is all my OPINION (with the exception of the recent Nutro recall and the FDA study, that's FACT) so you're free to make your own conclusions, but you want to know how I feel about Nutro? Nutro is being manufactured by the same people as Ol' Roy, Save-A-Lot, Iams, Eukanuba, etc... Now please explain: How is it that someone who created the "finest pet foods in the market" has their food made with their "better ingredients" in probably the exact same plant as low quality foods? (Quotations are their words as used on their website) Now how about this study done by the FDA in '98 that showed Nutro foods tested positive for pentobarbitol.... And in case you don't know what pentobarbitol is... it's what is used to euthanize animals and here we are feeding it to them!! Personally... I don't put a lot of faith in them any more. |

| This is getting scary. I feed my senior dry senior Nutro and canned Senior food. I think Im going to just go with Canidae for the puppy and older Yorkie. My wife picked up a bag of dry Canidae yesterday and many cans of the same also. This really unbelievable. They will lose millions on this one, never seen so much of a list of recalls and its growing until another announcement.
